There is no Fiji wedding market data. Not volumes, not average spend, not guest counts, not source markets, not booking windows — nobody publishes any of it. So this is not a list of predicted styles. It is a list of dated, documented changes that will shape what a 2027 Fiji wedding costs and how it runs, with the source for each.

Because the one body that counts visitors does not count weddings. The Fiji Bureau of Statistics publishes purpose of visit in its monthly arrivals release — for September 2026, holiday 77,179, visiting friends and relatives 7,740, business 1,994, official conference 1,637, education and training 70. Fiji counts conference delegates to the individual. It has no wedding or honeymoon category at all. A wedding party of forty sits inside "Holiday" and cannot be separated out.

The Bureau did publish its first marriage monograph on 23 June 2025, covering 2016 to 2024. Registered marriages fell from 9,483 in 2016 to 6,470 in 2024. But the release is labelled experimental, covers only legally registered marriages, and carries no nationality and no residency field — so it cannot detect a destination wedding, let alone size the market.

We also checked the Ministry for Justice and the Registrar General, the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association and Tourism Fiji. Nothing. Anyone publishing a Fiji wedding growth percentage for 2027 is inventing it.

Which Fiji resort prices are actually rising?

One resort publishes the evidence outright. Plantation Island Resort prints two travel bands side by side on the same page.

The percentages are ours, calculated from the two published figures: 6.9%, 4.6% and 9.3%. The asymmetry is the interesting part. The packages — which bundle accommodation and catering — rise. The ceremony-only products are frozen for the full twenty-four months. Where a resort's cost is mostly rooms and food, the price moves; where it is mostly a celebrant and some flowers, it does not.

Two other properties have locked a two-year band. Likuliku Lagoon Resort publishes DODOMO at F$6,580, MARAU at F$2,850 and Renewal of Vows at F$1,950, valid 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2028. Malolo Island Resort publishes Lomani at F$4,960, Domoni Essential at F$2,550 and Renewal of Vows at F$1,800 on the same window. Both state prices include 17.5% government taxes.

Tokoriki Island Resort and Tropica Island Resort publish current prices with no validity window at all, which means there is nothing to hold them to.

Did the VAT cut reach couples?

Fiji's VAT fell from 15% to 12.5% on 1 August 2025, per the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, which also moved the VAT fraction from 3/23 to 1/9. The Service's own rate history runs 9% to 2021, a dual-rate regime from 1 April 2022, 15% from 1 August 2023, and 12.5% from 1 August 2025.

We can document exactly one case of what happened next. Mana Island Resort & Spa has two rate documents live on its own site. The older contract states prices including 15% VAT: Simple Wedding FJ$1,500, Beach or Garden FJ$2,980, Chapel FJ$3,490, Renewal of Vows FJ$1,000. The 2026 edition states including 12.5% VAT: Chapel FJ$3,490, Beach or Garden FJ$2,980, Basic Cherished FJ$1,500, Renewal of Vows FJ$1,000.

Identical Fijian-dollar prices. A smaller tax component. The cut went into margin, not into the couple's budget. That is a single property and we are not extrapolating from it — but it is the only before-and-after pair published anywhere in the Fiji wedding market, and it is worth knowing before you assume a tax cut is yours.

What is the real 2027 cost increase, then?

Departure tax, because it is charged per person and nobody discounts it. Per the Ministry of Finance Citizens' Guide to the FY2025-2026 National Budget, Fiji's departure tax rose from FJ$140 to FJ$170 on 1 August 2024, then from FJ$170 to FJ$200 on 1 August 2025. The Ministry expected the phased rise to raise an additional FJ$20.0 million.

That is FJ$60 a head more than two years ago. On a forty-guest wedding, FJ$2,400 — more than Plantation's entire Lailai ceremony fee, spread invisibly across your guest list.

Underneath it, the labour cost base moved too. Fiji's national minimum wage rose from $4.00 to $4.50 an hour on 1 August 2024, and from $4.50 to $5.00 on 1 April 2025, per the Fiji Government and the Ministry of Employment. A 25% rise in the wage floor in eight months, in an industry that is almost entirely people.

What has not changed?

The law. We found no Marriage (Amendment) Act, no amended marriage regulations and no changed process for 2024, 2025 or 2026. The 21-day notice of intention stands, and so does the special licence that waives it for short-stay visitors.

The Ministry for Justice fee schedule dated 1 August 2025 publishes Notice of Intention at $15.00 plus $1.88 VAT, a registry court marriage at $50.00 plus $6.25, a special licence at $50.00 plus $6.25, an outside marriage at $100.00 plus $12.50, and civil celebrant registration at $3,000.00 plus $375.00. The underlying prescribed fees are the same figures that appeared before. Only the tax line changed.

One thing worth knowing if you are reading official guidance: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs still publishes the notice fee as FJD16.35 and a court marriage as FJD54.50. Those are the 9% VAT figures, superseded on 1 August 2023. Two arms of the same government, two fee sets, both live.

And on supply?

The Westin on Denarau Island remains closed, with no reopening date. Marriott's own property and wedding pages carry a closure alert beside a refurbishment notice promising reopening on 31 March 2023. The wedding pages still market the Senirosi Ballroom at 200 reception and 150 banquet. We found no official reopening statement anywhere.

We found no new chapel, pavilion, overwater or sandbar ceremony venue announced by any named Fiji resort in this pass, and no newly opened Fiji resort with a wedding offer that we could date.

What we did find, dated and published by the venues themselves, is community and environmental work: InterContinental Fiji's Community Care Fund, at FJ$2.00 per room per night going to Sanasana Village and the Natadola Bay community, its Saturday 8am beach cleanups, and a single-use plastics phase-out it puts at roughly 200,000 bottles a year; and Tokoriki's Yanuya Food Forest, first planted on 29 November 2024. Notably, InterContinental publishes no coral count, no tree total and no volunteer hours — we looked.

So what do you do with this?

Three things. Book into a published band before it rolls over — Plantation's documented increase starts on travel from 1 April 2027. Budget departure tax at FJ$200 a head and put it in your guest communications, not your own column. And ask every supplier for a price in writing with a currency code and a validity date, because a meaningful share of published Fiji wedding pricing is a year or more out of date and some of it is quoting a VAT rate that no longer exists.

That is less fun than a colour palette. It is also the only part of 2027 anyone can actually show you.

Next step: the Fiji Wedding Style & Decor hub covers the design side properly, what a Fiji wedding actually costs breaks the budget down line by line, and you can compare the properties above at Plantation Island Resort, Mana Island Resort & Spa, Likuliku Lagoon Resort, Tokoriki Island Resort and InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, or browse everything in weddings.
