Trust & verification
Every field value on MICE Fiji is written only through an append-only provenance system. A record's trust is projected into a live "heartbeat".
Verification tiers
L1 — Listed
A single-source listing. The baseline. Created from a free submission or a single bot/editor observation.
L2 — Verified
Two causally-independent sources agree on a field value. The field is corroborated, not just asserted.
L3 — Owner-verified
The business owner has claimed the listing and confirmed the value. The highest trust level.
Drift status
Confirmed
Recently verified and no conflicts observed.
Stale
No verification activity in the last 90 days. A scheduled sweep recomputes the heartbeat.
Disputed
A bot observed a value conflicting with an owner-verified value. The owner's value is held and the owner is emailed to re-confirm.
Provenance
Every field change appends a ProvenanceEntry — recording source_type (bot/owner/inference/editorial/self_reported), authority tier, confidence, the previous value, the actor and a timestamp. Entries are never updated or deleted.
The hold-and-flag rule
If a bot observes a value that conflicts with an owner-verified (L3) value, it must not overwrite. It marks the record "disputed", holds the owner's value, and emails the owner to re-confirm. Owner authority is preserved.
