The Coral Coast has four resorts with genuine conference capability: Shangri-La Yanuca Island (largest published space, 648 sqm), InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa at Natadola (600-seat pillarless ballroom), Warwick Fiji at Korolevu (510 sqm Talanoa Hall) and Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort at Korotogo (160 theatre). Below that, a further tier handles 30-100 delegates.
This is the stretch of Viti Levu's southern shore between Natadola and Pacific Harbour, and it is Fiji's second conference precinct after Denarau. It trades the Denarau advantage — twenty minutes from the airport, walk-between properties — for beaches that are noticeably better and a rate card that is usually softer. Whether that trade works depends almost entirely on how long your delegates will sit in a bus.
Which Coral Coast venues actually have conference space?
Four properties publish a capacity chart. Everything else on the coast is a resort that will happily put 40 people in a restaurant, which is a different thing.
| Venue | Largest space | Area | Theatre | Banquet | Cocktail | Breakout rooms |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shangri-La Yanuca Island | Ratu Makutu Events Centre | 648 m² | 650 | 500 | 500 | Davui Hall + 2 Ratu Makutu halves |
| InterContinental Fiji | Natadola Ballroom | 576 m² (6,200 sq ft) | 600 | 420 | not published | Ballroom divides in 3; Water Court rooms |
| Warwick Fiji | Talanoa Hall | 510 m² | 400 | 400 | 500 | Coral Coast Conference Centre, Vusu Boardroom |
| Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort | Reef 1 & 2 combined | not published | 160 | 80 | not published | Reef 1, Reef 2, Boardroom (12) |
| The Naviti Resort | Talei Conference Hall | not published | not published | not published | not published | Two man-made islands for outdoor functions |
| Fiji Hideaway Resort & Spa | Conference room | not published | not published | not published | not published | not published |
| Yatule Resort & Spa | Private meeting rooms | not published | not published | not published | not published | Breakout areas |
Areas are converted from the figures each property publishes; the InterContinental ballroom is listed in square feet and is shown here converted. Where a cell says "not published", the resort has a space but does not put a number on it — ask for the chart in writing before you build a run sheet around it.
How big can a Coral Coast conference actually get?
Around 500 delegates in one room, at Shangri-La Yanuca Island or the InterContinental.
Shangri-La publishes 650 theatre and 500 banquet for the full Ratu Makutu Events Centre, plus the Rara — a 1,305 m² outdoor space rated for 1,000 reception — which is where a gala on this coast would go. The InterContinental's Natadola Ballroom seats 600 theatre and 420 banquet, and it is pillarless, which matters more than the raw number the moment you put a stage and screens in.
Warwick Fiji's Talanoa Hall at 510 m² takes 400 theatre and 500 cocktail, with the 312 m² Coral Coast Conference Centre (200 banquet, 400 cocktail) as a second room. That combination is the most useful two-room setup on the coast for a conference that needs a plenary plus a large catering space running at the same time.
Rooms are the real ceiling, not chairs. Shangri-La Yanuca Island, Warwick Fiji (247 rooms), the InterContinental (266) and Outrigger (254) can each house a few hundred delegates in-house. Beyond that you are running a multi-property event along the Queens Road, which is a materially harder job — we have written about how that works.
Where the published numbers disagree
Two of these charts contradict themselves or each other, and you should know before you quote a client.
The InterContinental's breakout rooms. The resort's own meetings page describes "three theatre-style meeting rooms" each housing "up to 110 delegates", each divisible in two. The venue listing on Cvent — sourced from the property — shows only two Water Court rooms at 40 people each plus a 12-seat business centre boardroom, with 11 meeting rooms and 949 m² of meeting space in total. Those are not reconcilable. If your programme depends on three 100-person breakouts, get that confirmed in writing.
Shangri-La's Davui Hall. The published chart gives Davui Hall 264 m², but its three sections are listed at 132, 133 and 58 m² — a total of 323 m². It also shows Davui Hall A at 180 classroom against 75 reception, which is the wrong way round for a room of that size. Treat the Davui sub-room figures as indicative until the resort confirms them.
Warwick's Talanoa Hall. The meetings page gives theatre 400 and cocktail 500; the weddings page gives banquet 400. Those are consistent, but the resort publishes no classroom or cabaret figure, and cabaret is usually where a Fiji conference actually lands. Ask.
Where sources conflict we publish both and say so. That is more useful than a confident single number that turns out to be the other one.
How far is the Coral Coast from Nadi airport?
Far enough that it changes your programme. The properties that publish a figure describe roughly the following by road from Nadi International (NAN):
| Property | Stated transfer from NAN | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Yatule Resort & Spa, Natadola | about 1 hour | resort |
| Outrigger Fiji, Korotogo | a little over 1 hour | resort |
| Bedarra Beach Inn, Korotogo | around 90 minutes | property record |
| Fiji Hideaway Resort & Spa | about 90 minutes | resort |
The InterContinental and Shangri-La Yanuca Island do not publish a drive time we can verify, though both sit west of the Korolevu cluster and are correspondingly closer. Warwick Fiji and The Naviti are at Korolevu, the far end of the run. All of these are approximate, assume a private coach in daylight, and do not survive a wet-season slip on the Queens Road or a late inbound from Sydney.
The planning consequence is simple: on a Coral Coast programme, arrival day is a transfer day. Build the welcome function for that evening at the resort, not somewhere requiring a second bus movement. Our Coral Coast transport planning notes cover the coach specifics.
What is the wet-weather plan on the Coral Coast?
Better than most of Fiji, because the big four all have enclosed, air-conditioned halls. Shangri-La's Ratu Makutu Events Centre, the InterContinental's Watercourt Conference Centre, Warwick's Talanoa Hall and Outrigger's Reef rooms are all indoor spaces that do not depend on a marquee.
That is the argument for the Coral Coast over an island property. An island resort with a beach and a lawn has a wet-weather plan that is really a restaurant. A 510 m² hall does not care what the sky is doing. The Coral Coast is also drier than Suva by a wide margin — Nadi averages roughly 2,000 mm of rain a year against Suva's 2,940 mm — though the Korolevu end of the coast sits between the two climates rather than sharing Nadi's.
Choosing between them
Choose Shangri-La Yanuca Island if you need the largest single room on the coast, a genuine outdoor gala space, and a self-contained island-feel site linked to the mainland by causeway.
Choose the InterContinental if you want a pillarless ballroom, a championship golf course for the incentive element, and Natadola Bay as the backdrop. Verify the breakout count first.
Choose Warwick Fiji if you need two substantial rooms running simultaneously, and a five-star all-in-one site at the value end of that bracket.
Choose Outrigger Fiji if you are 60-150 delegates, want proper conference rooms rather than a converted restaurant, and value the Korotogo location and the resort's cultural programming.
Choose The Naviti, Fiji Hideaway, Yatule or Gecko's for 30-100 people where the meeting is the smaller part of the trip. All have meeting space; none publishes a capacity chart, so request one.
For the full national picture, see our Fiji conference venues and capacity chart and the capacity comparison tool. If you are still deciding between coasts, Suva or Nadi sets out the other two options, and which Fiji venue is actually the largest settles the question for events above 600.
The practical next step is to request the capacity chart and a room-block hold in the same email. On the Coral Coast, the hall is rarely the constraint — the rooms are.
