Published Fiji wedding photography rates start at FJ$850 for four hours of Suva-area coverage and run past FJ$10,000 equivalent for a seven-hour international package. But the headline figure is not the real problem. Of thirteen established Fiji photographers we checked, only four publish prices at all, and they do not all quote in the same currency.

What do Fiji wedding photographers actually charge?

These are the only figures published on suppliers' own websites, read on 27 September 2026. Nothing here is averaged or estimated. Conversions are ours, calculated at the Reserve Bank of Fiji indicative rate of 1 FJD = 0.7841 NZD / 0.6328 AUD dated 25 September 2026.

Two things are doing a lot of work in that table. Flashback's FJ$850 entry point comes with a published geographic limit — Suva, Nausori and Lami only — so it is not a price for a Mamanuca island wedding. And Lia and Stu quote in US dollars, which at current rates makes their entry package roughly FJ$4,950, not FJ$2,195.

Why won't most Fiji photographers tell you the price?

Because the market does not work that way. Leezett Photography, Eterna Weddings, Kirsten Satz Photography, Zoom Fiji and Tokman Images all publish portfolios and an enquiry form, and no figures. Adarsh Bala Photo and Films has a page titled Pricing that contains contact details and no prices.

This is not evasion so much as convention — Fiji weddings vary enormously by island, guest count and travel burden, and most studios would rather quote the job. But it has a consequence worth naming: you cannot price-compare Fiji photography without making five enquiries, and any article claiming an average cost for a Fiji wedding photographer is not working from published data.

Which currency is the quote in?

This is the single most expensive mistake available to a New Zealand or Australian couple, and it is easy to make.

Ocean Studio prices photography in Fijian dollars and albums in Australian dollars on the same page. Lia and Stu price in US dollars, marked only as a lowercase usd appended to each figure with no page-level statement. Rolling Moments Fiji publishes $900 and $2,000 with no currency named anywhere on the page — we checked headers, footers and fine print.

A couple comparing a $3,400 quote against a $3,095 quote may be comparing figures that differ by more than double in real terms. Before you compare anything, get every quote restated in one currency in writing.

What gets added after the package price?

Travel to the island

Fiji is not one location. Ocean Studio's rates are published as plus travelling cost with no figure attached. Lia and Stu are the clearest in the market, stating that a travel fee applies to every location off Viti Levu because those require boat transfers or flights, and to anywhere more than an hour away by road. Lyka Weddings is the only supplier we found stating the opposite — that travel within major Fiji islands and resort locations is usually included.

If you are marrying IN the Mamanucas, IN the Yasawas or ON the Coral Coast, the travel line is real and you should ask for it as a number, not a principle.

The album

Ocean Studio publishes album pricing and it is substantial: a 40-side layflat at AUD 829, rising to AUD 1,360 for a 60-side premium leather cover, with second copies roughly half price. At the 25 September 2026 rate, that AUD 1,360 album is about FJ$2,150 — on top of an FJ$3,400 shooting fee. Most couples do not see that coming.

Reception hours

Ocean Studio publishes reception coverage at FJ$600 per hour for both photography and cinematography. If your reception runs to 10pm and your package ends at sunset, that is a predictable four-figure addition.

Is the resort's photographer cheaper than your own?

On published evidence, no — and the comparison is frustratingly incomplete.

Tokoriki Island Resort publishes photography as an FJ$4,700 add-on and videography at FJ$4,800 across all three of its wedding packages. That photography figure is higher than Ocean Studio's complete FJ$3,400 sunset package and well above Nadi Bay's FJ$2,600 starting point.

But Tokoriki does not publish how many hours, how many images, or what you receive. So the honest position is this: resort photography is priced but not specified, while independent photographers are specified but not priced. You cannot compare them properly from either side's website.

Meanwhile Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort publishes wedding packages in four currencies — its Intimate package at FJD 7,200 / AUD 4,800 / NZD 5,300 / USD 3,400 — and mentions photography in none of them. Castaway Island and Lomani Island Resort likewise publish package prices with no photography line. At those properties, photography is yours to arrange.

Will the resort charge you for bringing your own photographer?

We could not find a single Fiji resort publishing an external vendor fee policy. We checked the wedding pages of Outrigger Fiji, Castaway Island, Tokoriki, Lomani, Shangri-La Yanuca Island and Fiji Marriott Momi Bay directly.

Be careful how you read that. No published policy is not the same as no policy. Outside-vendor fees are a documented norm in Mexico and the Caribbean, and nothing in Fiji's published material tells you whether a fee, a day-pass charge or an outright restriction applies. Two data points sit either side of the question: Tokoriki prices photography as a resort add-on but says nothing about outside shooters, while Castaway credits an independent photographer's images on its own wedding page.

The practical answer is to ask in writing before you sign, and to get the answer into the contract.

So what should you budget?

On published Fiji rates, a realistic planning band looks like this:

  • Two to four hours, mainland, no album: FJ$850–2,300
  • Full day to sunset, mainland: FJ$3,200–3,400 plus travel
  • Full day at an island resort, album included: FJ$5,000–10,500 equivalent
  • Photography and video together: roughly double photography alone

Choose the independent photographer if you care about the work itself and are willing to make several enquiries to price it. Choose the resort's package if you value one contract and one point of contact more than you value knowing what you are buying.

Two housekeeping notes from our September 2026 checks: Vivid Memories Fiji's website returns an account-suspended message, and photographerfiji.com has an expired security certificate. Confirm either is trading before you send a deposit.

Next step

Shortlist three photographers whose work you actually want, then send all three the same brief — date, island, guest count, hours, album or no album — and ask each for a figure in your own currency with travel included. Start from the Fiji wedding photographers directory, and if you have not settled your date yet, read golden hour in Fiji, month by month first — in Fiji you have about 22 minutes of usable light after sunset, which shapes how many hours you actually need.
