The Mamanucas are an incentive, buyout and offsite-dinner market rather than a plenary market. Only Musket Cove publishes a proper capacity chart, the largest published seated figure anywhere in the group is 200, and five resorts are adults-only or age-restricted. For 30 to 100 delegates with a reward element, the islands are excellent. For a 300-delegate multi-stream conference, they are the wrong answer.

This is every meeting-capable resort in the group with whatever it actually publishes, checked on 7 October 2026. The gaps in the table below are not research failures — they are what the market publishes.

Not one resort in the group publishes a classroom, u-shape, hollow-square or banquet capacity. Not one publishes a room hire fee. Musket Cove's two rooms are the only spaces in the Mamanucas with a published setup breakdown of any kind.

Which resort should anchor a conference?

Musket Cove Island Resort & Marina is the only property in the group that behaves like a conference venue on paper. The Marama Room is a genuine 200-square-metre function space at 150 cocktail or 100 theatre, with Dick's Place as a second room at 70 or 60. It is on Malolo Lailai, which also means the island's airstrip and marina are on your doorstep.

Plantation Island Resort publishes the biggest number — a conference centre "located in the centre of the facility" for small groups up to conferences of 200 people, plus "a range of flexible meeting rooms" whose individual capacities it does not publish. It shares Malolo Lailai with Musket Cove, which makes the pair worth considering together for a split-accommodation group.

Malolo Island Resort is the most honest about its own shape: it publishes a dedicated venue for groups of 17 to 60, with Treetops Restaurant at 40 indoors or 60 using the verandahs and deck, and resort group events up to 100. Note its age restriction — 13 and over for group events, lifted for exclusive-use bookings.

Mana Island Resort & Spa publishes whole-of-resort events for up to 150 but no named conference rooms, no capacity chart and — unusually — no transfer times on its own site. Do not plan a Mana arrival around an assumed catamaran duration; ask the resort.

Where do the islands genuinely beat the mainland?

Three places, and they are all about the programme rather than the plenary.

Buyouts. Vomo Island Fiji publishes private island hire explicitly for corporate events and incentives. Likuliku Lagoon Resort states that at select times of year "the entire resort could be exclusively yours". Malolo lifts its age restriction for exclusive use. None publishes a price, so this is a negotiation rather than a rate card — see resort buyouts for corporate groups.

The offsite day. Malamala Beach Club publishes whole-island corporate functions for up to 350 people and an island charter at a FJD 30,000 minimum spend, 30 minutes from Port Denarau, with returns at 4.45pm and 6.00pm. It has no accommodation. As a gala day or an incentive reward for a group based on Denarau, it is the strongest single-day venue in Fiji's west. Our guide to unique and offsite venues has the comparison.

High-end incentives. Six Senses Fiji (24 villas), Likuliku and Vomo are reward properties. They publish meetings or private-hire pages precisely because incentive groups ask, and they publish no capacities because the answer is always bespoke.

The adults-only problem nobody flags

Five of the resorts we checked publish an age restriction, and this catches planners out when a programme includes partners or families.

ResortPublished policy
Likuliku Lagoon ResortAdults only, reserved exclusively for in-residence guests
Tropica Island Resort"An intimate, adults only boutique resort"
Matamanoa Island ResortAdults only, guests 16 and over
Lomani Island Resort"A peaceful adults only retreat"
Malolo Island ResortGroup events age 13+, lifted for exclusive-use bookings

If your programme has an accompanying-partner element with children, that list removes four options before you start. Plantation Island, Musket Cove, Mana and Treasure Island are the family-capable end of the group.

How long does the transfer actually take?

This is the real planning constraint in the Mamanucas, and the honest version is that the morning sailings are slow because they island-hop.

Two operational rules follow. First, book the direct afternoon sailing if you are moving a group — the 3.15pm South Sea Cruises departure is 55 minutes to Malolo against roughly two hours on the morning runs. Second, helicopters do not fly before 8am and operate daylight hours only, so an early international arrival cannot helicopter straight out. Our note on ferries and boat transfers for groups covers the manifest and luggage mechanics.

Port Denarau itself is around 10 minutes from Nadi International Airport by road, so the airport-to-island journey is the marina transfer plus the sailing plus check-in time. Budget three hours door to door on a morning sailing.

For the programme around the meeting

The Mamanucas have the strongest activity supplier base of any Fiji island group. Cloud 9 Fiji is the floating bar and pizzeria on Ro Ro reef; Subsurface Fiji and Purple Turtle Fiji handle diving; Cruisin Fiji and Land and Sea Tours Fiji cover charters and day programmes out of Denarau.

For production, note that no AV supplier is based in the islands — everything comes from Nadi or Suva on a boat. Factor a day either side for bump-in and bump-out, and expect freight to be the constraint rather than the gear.

The verdict

Choose Musket Cove if you want the only Mamanuca venue with a published capacity chart and 100 delegates seated is enough.

Choose Plantation Island if you need the largest published conference figure in the group at 200, and a family-capable resort.

Choose Malolo if your group is 17 to 60 and you want a resort that is explicitly built for that band.

Choose a buyout — Vomo, Likuliku or Malolo exclusive use — if the event is a reward rather than a working conference and the budget supports it.

Add Malamala Beach Club if you are based on Denarau and want one spectacular offsite day for up to 350.

Go to the mainland if you need a seated plenary above 200, multiple simultaneous breakout rooms, in-house hybrid broadcast, or a published rate to budget against. Conference venues on Denarau Island and in Nadi have all four.

Next step: check your delegate number against the national capacity chart, read the Mamanuca Islands: the complete guide for what the islands are actually like, and start from the Fiji conference venues hub if you are still choosing a region.
