Independent wedding catering in Fiji is real, good and geographically narrow. The businesses that will cook for your wedding are based in Nadi, Lautoka and Suva — and essentially nowhere else, because on an island or a remote stretch of coast the resort kitchen is the only kitchen. This directory lists who exists, how they charge, and the regions where an independent caterer is not an option at all.

No caterer in Fiji publishes a rate card. We are not going to invent one.

When do you actually need an independent caterer?

Venue typeWho catersWhy
Resort with its own kitchensThe resort, almost alwaysF&B is a core revenue line and they control food safety on site
Island resort or remote coastThe resort, with no realistic alternativeCold chain, staff and equipment cannot be shipped in for one event
Botanical garden, park or heritage siteAn independent catererNo kitchen on site
Private villa or houseAn independent catererDomestic kitchen, event volumes
Marquee or beach site outside a resortAn independent caterer plus a hire companyEverything is brought in
Community or church hallAn independent catererHall kitchens are rarely event-grade

So the honest answer is that most couples marrying in Fiji will never book a caterer — they will negotiate a menu with a resort. The directory below matters if you are marrying at a venue with no kitchen, such as Garden of the Sleeping Giant outside Nadi, or at a private house.

If you are at a resort and want to bring someone in anyway, read when a resort says you must use their suppliers first. The policy is usually negotiable only at the margins.

Nadi and the west

The strongest concentration of event-capable catering outside Suva, and the right base for weddings in Nadi, Denarau, the Sabeto Valley and the Momi/Natadola coast.

Flavours of Fiji Cooking SchoolNadiOwn site — cooking school, not a caterer

Bulaccino runs a catering arm off an established café business, which usually means reliable breakfast, canapé and buffet formats and an existing cold chain. Chefs Catering Fiji markets itself directly at the event and function trade. Corner Cafe is useful for the softer end of a wedding week — welcome breakfasts, a recovery brunch, cakes — and is a sensible single call if you want food across several days rather than one banquet.

Flavours of Fiji is included deliberately, with the caveat attached: it is a cooking school, not a catering company. It is one of the better group activities in Nadi for a free afternoon or a rainy one, and worth knowing for that reason.

Lautoka and the sugar belt

Lautoka is the right base for a wedding between Nadi and Rakiraki, and its catering businesses are strong on Indo-Fijian cooking — which matters more than it sounds. If you have a substantial vegetarian contingent, or you want a curry service alongside a lovo, this is where the depth is. Both businesses here are reachable through Facebook rather than a website; that is normal in Fiji and not a quality signal either way, but it does mean the enquiry is a message rather than a form.

Suva and the east

The largest pool, serving Suva, Pacific Harbour, the eastern Coral Coast and the short-crossing islands such as Leleuvia and Toberua.

Paradiso and My Kai both run their own domains and are the easiest two to brief in writing from overseas, which matters when you are planning from Auckland or Sydney. The remaining four are listed because they exist and are known to the trade; where we have no website to verify against, we say so rather than dressing the record up.

What the directory does not contain — and why

This is the part that will save you the most time.

No independent caterers based on the Coral Coast, in the Mamanucas, in the Yasawas or in Fiji's Outer Islands. Not an oversight. Catering an island wedding means moving a brigade, refrigeration, gas, water, crockery and waste across water on a schedule set by someone else, and then doing it in reverse. The resorts have solved this by having kitchens; nobody else has solved it at all. If you are marrying in the Mamanucas, your caterer is your resort. Plan the menu negotiation, not the supplier search.

No dedicated beverage or mobile-bar suppliers with verified websites. Also structural. Alcohol service in Fiji follows the liquor licence, and licences attach to premises and licensed operators — which means the venue runs the bar. A handful of hire businesses supply glassware and bar furniture, but the pouring is almost always the venue's.

Liquor licensing is guideline only — confirm requirements for your venue, date and format with the relevant Liquor Licensing Board, administered through Fiji's Office of the Attorney-General, before planning any bring-your-own or mobile-bar arrangement. Last reviewed 29 October 2026.

No published rate cards, anywhere. We checked. Treat any per-head number you read online as fiction until a Fijian caterer puts it in writing to you.

What you also need to hire

An independent caterer at a venue with no kitchen is only half the set-up. The other half:

For a marquee wedding you are coordinating a caterer, a hire company, a power source and a transport operator, all on the same access window. Book them in the same fortnight, because each one's availability constrains the others.

How are catering rates structured?

No figures, but the shape of every quote you will receive:

  1. Per-person menu charge, by tier — canapés, buffet, set plated service, grazing, or a lovo priced per head.
  2. Staffing, by head or by hour. Plated service needs roughly twice the floor staff of a buffet.
  3. Equipment hire — chafing dishes, crockery, glassware, linen, bar equipment. Sometimes inside the per-head figure, sometimes a separate line. Ask which.
  4. Travel or delivery, rising with distance from the caterer's base. A Suva caterer working Pacific Harbour is a different number from one working Natadola.
  5. Minimum guest numbers, which is the figure that decides whether a small wedding is viable at all.
  6. Fiji's VAT at 12.5%, reduced from 15% effective 1 August 2025 (Fiji Revenue and Customs Service). Ask whether quoted per-head figures include it.

The broader pricing logic across every supplier category is in what Fiji wedding suppliers charge and why.

How should we brief a Fiji caterer?

Six things, and most couples send two.

  • Final headcount plus a confirmation date. Say when the number locks.
  • The venue, and its kitchen situation. "No kitchen, power from a generator, vehicle access to within 40 metres" tells a caterer more than three paragraphs about your vision.
  • Service style and timings. Canapés from 4:30pm, seated at 6pm, dessert at 8pm.
  • The consolidated dietary list, collected at RSVP and sent at least three weeks out.
  • What you want to be unmistakably Fijian. Kokoda, a lovo, palusami, fresh reef fish, local fruit. Fijian caterers do these better than they do a European set menu, and it is what your guests flew for.
  • Who else is on site, and when they need access. Stylist, florist, band and caterer all want the same hour.

If a lovo is on the list, read a lovo feast at your wedding first — it covers the timing, the space and, importantly, how the people who build it should be credited and paid. Cakes are handled separately in Fiji wedding cake makers: the directory.

The verdict

If you are marrying at a resort, your catering decision is a menu negotiation, not a supplier search. Spend the effort on the per-head inclusions and the minimum spend instead.

If you are marrying at a garden, villa or marquee site in the Nadi–Lautoka–Suva corridor, you have a real choice, and the businesses with their own domains — Paradiso, My Kai, Bulaccino, Chefs Catering Fiji, Corner Cafe — are the easiest to brief from overseas.

If you are marrying on an island, stop looking. Negotiate with the resort kitchen and ask for a lovo.

Next step: see the full supplier picture in Fiji wedding suppliers: who to book and how, or search caterers directly in the Suva and Nadi directories.
