Fiji's accommodation stock is being reshaped rather than simply expanded. Three properties came back into the market during 2026, one large resort is out until late 2027, one Denarau property is closed with no published reopening date, and a new 175-room build was announced for Denarau. Here is the record, and what each item does to a 2027 or 2028 booking.

Everything below is sourced. Where a date has already passed, we say so rather than leaving stale future tense in place.

The Yasawa Princess II is the one to note if you run incentives. A 44-guest vessel is an unusually clean fit for a mid-size incentive group wanting a multi-day Yasawa itinerary without splitting across resorts. Confirm the 2027 charter calendar early; a single hull with 22 cabins sells out on a different rhythm from a 300-room resort.

What is still to come?

Vatu Talei, Denarau Island. Announced for late 2026 with 175 rooms, including penthouse and two-bedroom options, and what is described as the South Pacific's largest pool. A 175-room build on Denarau is materially new inventory in Fiji's densest conference precinct. Conference and banqueting capacities have not been published.

Plantation Island Resort, Mamanucas. Announced to reopen in late 2026 with upgraded dining venues, wellness facilities and accommodation. Plantation Island is one of the few Fiji properties that publishes anything about wet-weather planning, stating that its wedding team monitors forecasts and can move a celebration indoors (Plantation Island).

Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort, Savusavu. Closed early 2026 for enhancements, with oceanfront bures being expanded to two-bedroom configurations and a new gym. No reopening date was published in the January announcement.

Superyacht Mischief. Available June to October 2026 for charter combined with stays at Six Senses Fiji.

The big one: Mana Island, closed until late 2027

The most consequential change in Fiji's inventory is Mana Island Resort & Spa, which is out of the market entirely.

Radisson Hotel Group announced on 19 March 2026 that it had signed the property as a member of Radisson Individuals. The refurbished resort will carry 160 keys across guest rooms, suites and beachfront villas, with multiple dining venues, bars, swimming pools, a spa and wellness facilities, a fitness centre, a kids' club and event spaces. Expected reopening is late 2027 (PR Newswire; Fiji Times).

Radisson's release places the island approximately 90 minutes by boat from Port Denarau Marina and 20 minutes by seaplane from Nadi International Airport.

What it means practically: 160 rooms are out of the Mamanuca market until at least late 2027, at a property that historically handled large family and group business. Groups that would have gone to Mana are competing for beds at Castaway, Malolo, Musket Cove and Tokoriki instead. If you are shortlisting a Mamanuca island for 2027, do it earlier than you otherwise would.

The release names event spaces but publishes no capacity figures. Until Radisson does, treat any Mana conference capacity quoted to you as provisional.

What is closed with no date?

The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa displayed a "currently closed" alert on Marriott's own site when we checked on 25 September 2026, and the page now carries the name The Westin Fiji Golf Resort & Spa. No reopening date is published (Marriott).

We are reporting what the operator's site says and nothing more. If you have a Westin Denarau proposal in hand for 2027, confirm it with the property directly before it goes further.

What changed in the air?

One route, and it matters for Australian groups. Fiji Airways launched a direct Nadi–Gold Coast service on 11 June 2026, operating three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays with a Boeing 737 MAX 8, with launch fares published from A$599 return (Gold Coast Airport).

A Monday, Thursday and Saturday pattern shapes programme design. It works well for a Thursday-in, Monday-out incentive and awkwardly for a Tuesday-start conference. See Fiji Airways route changes for the wider picture.

What this does to your 2027 and 2028 booking

Three consequences, in order of how much they will cost you.

Availability tightens before it loosens. Mana's 160 rooms and Westin Denarau's inventory are out now; Vatu Talei's 175 rooms and Plantation Island's refurbished stock arrive later. In between, the properties still trading have less competition. That firms up rates and shortens the window on prime dates — see booking lead times for Fiji venues for what is typically still open at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months.

Reopening dates move. They almost always do. Never contract a 2027 or 2028 date at a property that is still closed without a written reopening commitment and a stated alternative if it slips.

Capacities for reopening properties are unknown. No reopening Fiji property in this list has published a meeting room schedule or banquet capacity. If a capacity for a closed property appears in a proposal, ask where it came from.

How this page is maintained

This is a running record, not a one-off announcement. It is rebuilt against operator, airline and Fiji press sources, and every entry carries the date it was verified. Where a source could not be confirmed, we say so rather than filling the gap.

For how we check what goes into the directory behind it, see how MICE Fiji verifies a listing. To brief everything in one place, start at how to source everything for a Fiji event in one place, or browse current inventory by region from Denarau and the Mamanuca Islands.

Last reviewed 26 September 2026. Status of any closed property should be confirmed with the operator before contracting.
