Build your Fiji wedding budget in FJD, convert once, and write the conversion date into the sheet. That single discipline prevents the most common destination-wedding budget failure: a spreadsheet half in home currency and half in Fiji dollars, reconciled at a rate nobody can remember. Below is the structure to copy, with the Fiji-specific lines that generic wedding templates leave out.
How should the spreadsheet be laid out?
Seven columns. No more.
| Column | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| Line item | One cost, named the way your supplier names it |
| Supplier | Who is quoting, so you can chase it |
| FJD quoted | The figure exactly as quoted, in Fiji dollars |
| Status | Estimated / Quoted / Deposit paid / Paid |
| Rate used | The FJD rate you converted at |
| Rate date | The date you took that rate |
| Home currency | FJD quoted × rate |
The last three columns are the whole point. Take the rate from the Reserve Bank of Fiji, which sets the official FJD–USD rate at 9:00am each business day, or from your own bank. Record it. When you revisit the budget in four months, you will know whether a number moved because a supplier repriced or because the currency did. Do not use a single rate for the whole sheet across a year of planning — re-stamp the rate each time you enter a new quote.
Which line items are Fiji-specific?
These are the rows a UK or Australian template will not have, and they are where budgets break.
- Wedding package base — most Fiji resorts sell a package, not a venue hire
- Extra guests above package — a separate per-head rate, always
- Private venue setup fee — charged if you want a space closed to other guests
- Exclusive restaurant hire — separate again from the setup fee
- Marriage licence and celebrant
- Boat or coach transfers for guests — per leg, per person
- Supplier travel/freight to the venue — florists and stylists are all mainland-based
- Wet-weather contingency — marquee, or the indoor room's hire cost
- Minister's or village courtesy if a cultural element is included
- Flights and accommodation for suppliers on island weddings
- Cancellation exposure — the amount already non-refundable at each date
What do Fiji resorts actually publish for a wedding package?
Most publish nothing. Four do, and these are useful anchors for a first draft — not a market rate, and not a substitute for your own quote.
| Resort | Published package | Price as published | Guest limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort | Dream Wedding Package | FJD $11,500 (also listed AUD 7,500 / NZD 8,500 / USD 5,300), valid to 31 March 2027 | Minimum 30, maximum 100 |
| Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort | Additional guests | FJD $180 per person | — |
| Plantation Island Resort | Domoni Wedding Package | FJ$12,737 | Up to 30 guests |
| Plantation Island Resort | Vakamau Wedding Package | FJ$8,393 | Up to 20 guests |
| Plantation Island Resort | Lailai Ceremony / Renewal of Vows | FJ$1,577 | Intimate |
| Mana Island Resort & Spa | Chapel Wedding | FJD 3,490 | Banquets published 5–150 |
| Mana Island Resort & Spa | Beach or Garden Wedding | FJD 2,980 | — |
| Fiji Hideaway Resort & Spa | Paradise Wedding | $8,870 base 30 people; extra adult FJD$150 net | Max 80 guests |
Note what these numbers are not. Outrigger's FJD 11,500 includes four nights' accommodation in an Ocean View Room for the couple; Plantation's and Mana's do not. Two package prices are never comparable until you have written out what each contains, line by line, in your sheet. Build a small "what's included" block under each package row and tick the items off.
Also note the currency trap in the Hideaway figures: the package lines are published with a bare dollar sign while the extra-adult line is explicitly FJD. Ask which currency applies before you budget from it.
Which lines get underestimated?
Three, consistently.
Extra guests. The package covers 20 or 30 people. Your guest list is 60. At Outrigger's published FJD 180 per additional head, thirty extra guests is FJD 5,400 — nearly half the package again. Model your real number from day one, not the package's number.
Setup and exclusivity fees. Mana Island publishes private venue setup from F$500 and exclusive restaurant use at F$2,500 including taxes. These are separate rows, not rounding.
Transfers. If guests are staying off-property or the ceremony is on an island, every guest movement is a paid seat. Give transfers their own block in the sheet with a per-person, per-leg rate, and multiply by the real headcount.
What about tax and cancellation?
Add a tax note at the top of the sheet rather than a tax row per line, because Fiji suppliers differ on whether quotes are inclusive. Ask each supplier in writing whether their figure includes VAT. Separately, the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service has published a new Tourism Services Tax of 5%, applying to tourism operators above a $2 million threshold and effective from 1 September 2026. Whether it reaches your specific supplier depends on their turnover — ask.
For cancellation, add a single column called non-refundable to date and update it whenever you pay a deposit. Mana publishes a full cancellation charge on any services, flower orders or cakes cancelled 14 days or less before the date; Fiji Hideaway requires final guest numbers at least two months prior and full payment one month prior. Those dates belong in your sheet as rows with dates, not in an email you will not reopen.
Tax treatment is a guideline only. Confirm your supplier's VAT and Tourism Services Tax position with them and with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service. Last reviewed 17 September 2026.
Build it, then pressure-test it
Once the sheet is populated, run two scenarios in duplicate columns: ten more guests than you expect, and a wet-weather day. If either scenario breaks the budget, you have found the constraint worth negotiating before you sign anything.
