Five pieces of copy your guests need, written so you can paste them straight into a save-the-date, a wedding website or an email. Every fact below was checked against Fiji government or airline sources on 25 September 2026 — so you can send them without checking them again.

1. The save-the-date wording

Keep it to four facts: where, when, roughly what it costs to get there, and when to book. Guests decide on a destination wedding in the first week or not at all.

Save the date.

We're getting married in Fiji on [DATE].

The ceremony is at [VENUE], on [ISLAND / REGION], about [X] minutes from Nadi International Airport.

Flights from Auckland are about 3 hours, from Brisbane about 3 to 3.5, from Sydney about 4, from Melbourne about 5. New Zealand and Australian passport holders don't need a visa.

Formal invitation and a full travel page to follow by [DATE]. If you want to book flights early, [MONTH] is the month to do it.

2. The wedding website travel page

This is the section that saves you fifty individual text messages. Paste it as-is and fill the brackets.

Getting here. Fly into Nadi International Airport (NAN). Fiji Airways flies direct from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and, since 11 June 2026, the Gold Coast. Qantas, Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Nauru Airlines also serve some Australian routes.

Visas. New Zealand, Australian, UK, US and Canadian passport holders do not need a visa. You'll be issued a visitor permit at the border, valid up to four months. Bring a confirmed return ticket — Immigration asks for it. Allow six months' passport validity.

Arrival card. You'll fill in a paper Fiji Passenger Arrival Card on the plane. Declare anything you're unsure about; see the packing list below.

Money. The currency is the Fiji dollar (FJD). Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted in tourist areas and larger businesses, usually with about a 3% surcharge. Small shops, markets and local transport are cash. There are ATMs in the arrivals hall at Nadi Airport with a daily withdrawal limit of FJ$2,000.

Power. 240 volts, 50 Hz, on the same flat three-pin plug as Australia and New Zealand. No adaptor needed if you're coming from either.

Phones. Vodafone Fiji and Digicel sell prepaid SIMs in the Nadi arrivals hall and activate them on the spot — bring your passport, they require it. eSIMs are available. The airport has free WiFi.

Time. Fiji is UTC+12 and does not observe daylight saving.

Water. Drink bottled or filtered water. Tap water in the main towns and resorts is treated, but resorts advise guests not to drink it, and on outer islands supply is filtered rainwater.

Insurance. Please take out travel insurance that covers medical evacuation by air. Both the New Zealand and Australian governments advise it for Fiji, and we'd rather you had it.

3. The guest FAQ

The five questions you will otherwise be asked individually, with answers you can paste.

QuestionThe answer to send
Do I need a visa? No, not for NZ, AU, UK, US or Canadian passports. A visitor permit up to four months is issued at the border.
How much cash should I bring?Enough for taxis, markets and tips. Cards work in resorts and larger businesses with about a 3% surcharge; ATMs at Nadi Airport cap withdrawals at FJ$2,000 a day.
Is there a departure tax to pay?No, not at the airport. Fiji's departure tax rose to FJ$200 on 1 August 2025 and is collected through your ticket. Under-12s and transit passengers departing within 96 hours are exempt.
Do I need jabs?Nothing is required for entry from Australia or New Zealand. Tetanus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B and typhoid are worth discussing with your doctor. There is no malaria in Fiji. Dengue is present, so pack repellent.
What's the weather like?[MONTH] in western Viti Levu averages [X] wet days — see our wet-weather note. Rain in Fiji usually arrives as a short afternoon downpour, not an all-day drizzle.

4. The packing list

Split it into two halves, because the second half is the one that gets people fined.

Pack: reef-safe sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, a light rain layer, any prescription medication in its original packaging, a printed copy of your return ticket, and something with shoulders and knees covered for village visits.

Declare on the arrival card: all food of any kind, including packaged snacks, instant noodles, dried fruit, herbs, spices and infant formula. All plant material — seeds, nuts, dried flowers, wooden handicrafts, woven mats. All animal products — meat, dairy, honey, shells, feathers, bones. And used outdoor gear: hiking boots, sports shoes, camping equipment, golf clubs.

The Biosecurity Authority of Fiji issues a FJ$400 spot fine for undeclared declarable items, and prosecution carries a maximum FJ$20,000 fine or six months' imprisonment. Amnesty bins sit before the biosecurity check. Ticking "yes" costs nothing; not ticking it can cost a guest FJ$400 before they have left the terminal.

The duty-free allowance for passengers 18 and over is 3 litres of spirits or 4.5 litres of wine or 4.5 litres of beer, plus 200 cigarettes or 200 grams of tobacco, plus other goods to FJ$2,000. Cash of FJ$10,000 or more must be declared.

5. The travel note, sent six weeks out

Six weeks to go. A few final things.

Check your passport has six months' validity. Have your return ticket accessible — Immigration may ask. Fill in the arrival card on the plane and declare any food, plants or used outdoor gear; the fine for not declaring is FJ$400.

Transfers: [OPERATOR] is meeting us at Nadi. Look for [SIGN]. The drive to [VENUE] is about [X] minutes. If your flight moves, text [NUMBER] so we can move the vehicle.

At today's rate, NZ$1 is about FJ$1.28 and A$1 about FJ$1.58 (Reserve Bank of Fiji, 25 September 2026). Bring some cash.

See you there.

Before you send it

Two figures date faster than the rest: the exchange rate and the departure tax. Re-check both on the Reserve Bank of Fiji and Fiji Revenue & Customs sites before you press send.

Immigration, customs and biosecurity information here is guideline only — confirm current requirements with Fiji Immigration, the Fiji Revenue & Customs Service and the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji before travel. Last reviewed 26 September 2026.
