Fiji's confirmed forward calendar of business events is short, and that is the honest place to start. Nine events between February 2026 and July 2028 can be verified against both a named organiser and a named venue. Several hundred more listed online cannot. This page publishes what survives checking.

It is maintained rather than written once. Where a date is earmarked rather than locked, we say so.

What business events in Fiji are actually confirmed?

Every row below was checked against the organiser's own domain on 13 September 2026.

Read the October–November 2026 cluster carefully. HOTEC on 22–23 October at Crowne Plaza, the Fiji Law Society convention on 30–31 October at the Sheraton, and the PPA conference and trade exhibition from 2–5 November back at Crowne Plaza put three sizeable bookings into the Nadi and Denarau corridor inside fifteen days. If you are sizing a room block in that window, size it early.

One event we removed: a 6th Pacific Statistics Standing Committee meeting for 24–25 September 2026 in Nadi appears in secondary listings, but nothing on the Pacific Community's Statistics for Development Division site supports it. The most recent verifiable meeting of that committee was in October 2024. We are not publishing it.

Why do online listings show hundreds of Fiji conferences?

Because several aggregator sites generate them. One such site claims roughly 685 "verified" events in Fiji across 2026 and 2027, around half of them in Suva. Set that against the confirmed pipeline above and against the number of purpose-built conference venues in the country, and the figure does not survive contact with reality.

The listings share a pattern: a conference title, a city, a date, and then nothing. No venue. No named organising body. The surrounding offer — visa invitation letters, publication in "indexed journals", two hundred disciplines — is the standard shape of the predatory conference trade.

A useful distinction to hold on to: conferencealerts.com, plural, is a long-established and generally reputable listing service. conferencealert.com, singular, is not the same thing. The two domains differ by one letter.

The test to apply is the one academic libraries already use. Think. Check. Attend. asks three questions: is the organising body reputable and the venue confirmed; are the committee and keynote speakers real and verifiable; and is any proceedings publisher a member of COPE, DOAJ or OASPA. A Fiji event is real if a named Fijian venue and a named organising body can be confirmed on the organiser's own domain. Nothing on the aggregator sites clears that first hurdle.

Which Fiji dates should you not clash with?

Cabinet confirmed eleven public holidays for 2026. Two points matter for planners: Eid is not a Fiji public holiday — the Islamic public holiday is the Prophet Mohammed's Birthday — and Fiji Day 2026 falls on a Saturday, with no Monday substitute listed.

The 2027 list has not been gazetted. Third-party calendars showing 2027 Fiji holidays are projecting, not reporting. The 2026 list was confirmed in early September 2025, so a 2027 decision is due about now — check before you contract a 2027 date.

What do festivals and school terms do to availability?

Blocker2026Effect
Bula Festival, King Charles Park, Nadi18–25 JulNadi accommodation and traffic
Hibiscus Festival, Albert Park, Suva29 Aug – 5 SepSuva accommodation
Sugar Festival, Churchill Park, LautokaSeptember, dates not publishedLautoka accommodation

School long break7 Dec 2026 – 22 Jan 2027Peak domestic occupancy
Coral Coast Sevens, Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka14–16 Jan 2027Fills Coral Coast and Nadi

The Lautoka Sugar Festival is the weak entry here. Organiser and venue are supportable; the 2026 and 2027 dates are not published on any primary source, and its only official channel is a social media page. Treat September in Lautoka as provisionally busy.

Is the general election a risk to your dates?

Yes, and the risk is currently unbounded because no polling day had been announced as at 13 September 2026.

The Fijian Elections Office has published the constitutional window: the writ must issue between 24 June and 24 December 2026, and polling must fall between 7 August 2026 and 6 February 2027. Nominations close fourteen days after the writ, and voting occurs within thirty days after nominations close. The Prime Minister has indicated polling is likely between late December 2026 and early February 2027, with the writ expected between 10 November and 24 December. A record ten parties are registered, and the campaign period formally opened on 25 May 2026. Municipal elections, the first in twenty-one years, are also in play.

For a planner this translates into one instruction: treat mid-December 2026 to early February 2027 as an elevated-risk window for venue availability, ground transport, security posture and — most of all — the availability of government ministers as speakers or officiating guests. Re-check for the writ before signing anything in that period.

Which sporting fixtures actually fill Fiji hotels?

This one is counter-intuitive and worth knowing.

Flying Fijians home tests currently do not fill Fiji hotels, because several of them are not played in Fiji. Fiji's Nations Championship home matches in 2026 were staged in Cardiff, Liverpool and Edinburgh, because HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, at around 15,000 seats, falls below the competition's 25,000-seat minimum.

What does fill accommodation is the Coral Coast Sevens, whose fifteenth edition runs 14–16 January 2027 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, and Fijian Drua home matches at Churchill Park in Lautoka across the Super Rugby Pacific season, which runs 12 February to 26 June 2027. Individual Drua fixture dates were not yet published at the time of writing.

Does Fiji publish an official business events calendar?

Not in any usable form, and this is the gap the page above exists to fill.

Tourism Fiji operates businesseventsfiji.com as its official MICE site. The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association maintains an events page, which is the closest thing the country has to a maintained industry calendar — and it currently holds a single entry. The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation lists event partnerships without dates. Tourism Fiji's Major Events Fund explicitly excludes business events from funding. A separately branded "Fiji Convention Bureau" exists but describes itself as an independent commercial operator, not a national bureau, and publishes no forward calendar.

In practice, verification runs through the organiser, and through a professional conference organiser on the ground — Team Up Events Fiji and Events Fiji are two with live published sites, and Rosie Holidays handles inbound groups at scale. The wider list sits in Fiji DMCs, PCOs and event suppliers.

The verdict

  • Nine events, verified. Everything else advertised as a Fiji conference should be assumed unverified until the organiser's own domain says otherwise.
  • Late October to early November 2026 is the tightest stretch in the Nadi and Denarau corridor.
  • The election window is the single largest unpriced risk for December 2026 to February 2027.
  • No national forward calendar exists. That is not a gap you can plan around; it is one you plan despite.

Next step: fix the window first, then the venue. When to hold a conference in Fiji covers weather and rate seasonality, Fiji conference venues and capacity chart and the capacity chart cover what fits where, and Fiji conference scenarios and benchmarks shows what comparable programmes have actually run. Properties that host at this scale include the Sheraton Fiji, Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay and Tanoa International Hotel. Browse the full list under venues.

Guideline only. Event dates, public holidays and the election timetable change. Confirm holidays with the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations and election dates with the Fijian Elections Office before contracting. Last reviewed 13 September 2026.
