A week in Fiji for under FJ$5,000 is achievable, but only at a handful of properties — and only four in the country publish enough of their own pricing for you to check the maths. Most Fiji budget and mid-range resorts no longer publish rates at all. Add the new 5 per cent Tourism Services Tax from 1 September 2026 and the arithmetic has shifted in favour of small properties.
Why is it so hard to price a Fiji honeymoon?
Because the resorts stopped telling you. We fetched the websites of 22 budget and mid-range Fiji properties that would suit a honeymoon. Only six published a rate of any kind on their own site. The rest route straight to a booking engine.
That is not a small inconvenience. It means you cannot compare, you cannot budget before you enquire, and you cannot tell whether an agent's "deal" is a discount or the standard rate. Several of the properties with no published rates are genuinely good — Mango Bay Resort, Uprising Beach Resort, Bedarra Beach Inn, Gecko's Resort, Wellesley Resort, Nakia Resort & Dive and Leleuvia Island Resort among them — but you will be asking rather than reading.
Three warnings worth more than any rate we could quote:
- maravu.net and coralviewfiji.com are no longer the resorts' websites. Both now serve unrelated filler content. Do not book or pay through either.
- Every page we fetched on Blue Lagoon Beach Resort's site carried a banner reading "TEST WEBSITE – NOT LIVE". Treat anything you read there as provisional.
- Funky Fish's transfer page has expired — it states rates valid to 31 March 2026 — and quotes tax rates (9 per cent VAT, a 10 per cent hotel turnover tax, a 6 per cent environmental levy) that do not match current budget documents. Its special-deals page also contradicts itself, advertising one rate in its page metadata and a different one in the body.
What tax will be on the bill?
This is the one genuinely new number in Fiji honeymoon budgeting, and it matters.
| Tax | Rate | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| VAT | 12.5 per cent | Generally, per the 2026–27 budget documents and corroborated by operators publishing VAT-inclusive rates |
| Tourism Services Tax (TST) | 5 per cent, from 1 September 2026 for 12 months | Licensed hotel, tour and cruise operators with turnover of $2 million or more |
So a bill from a larger Fiji property now carries a combined 17.5 per cent — a figure the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association itself used when it said the industry had not agreed to the new tax. Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay and Paradise Taveuni both publish notices confirming the 5 per cent on their own sites.
The planning consequence is counter-intuitive and useful: smaller properties below the $2 million turnover threshold do not charge TST, so the price gap between a small resort and a large one just widened by five points in the small resort's favour.
Two honest caveats. FRCS's own current VAT Guide still states a general rate of 15 per cent, which contradicts the budget documents and the operators; we could not resolve it. And we could not confirm a current Environment and Climate Adaptation Levy rate on accommodation — published figures of 10 per cent, 5 per cent and nothing at all are all in circulation, and FRCS's rate table shows no ECAL rate after 31 July 2021. Ask your property what appears on the bill.
Which properties can you actually cost a week at?
These four publish enough to do the arithmetic. Figures are exactly as published, in the currency published, read on 21 October 2026.
| Property | Published rate | What it includes | What it does not |
|---|---|---|---|

| [Toberua Island Resort](/venue/toberua-island-resort) | "Meal & Transfer Special Deal" from NZ$4,420 for 5 nights; "Romantic Couples Package" from NZ$5,900 for 5 nights; nightly from NZ$450 on the home page | Packages include beachfront accommodation, daily gourmet meals and return Suva airport transfers. The Romantic package adds a fruit basket and sparkling wine on arrival, a couples massage, a pier dining experience and a private island picnic | Toberua's own site publishes two different "from" nightly rates — NZ$450 on the home page and NZ$490 on the Tropical Bure page. Standalone transfer price not published |
Running the FJ$5,000 test on published figures:
- Mantaray, Tree House Bure: FJD 207 room + 2 × FJD 184 meals = FJD 575 a night for two, so about FJD 4,025 for seven nights before transfers. The only island option we can show landing under FJ$5,000 for a week — and the shared-bathroom category is the one that gets you there. Step up to a Reef Bure and the same week is roughly FJD 6,200 before transfers.
- Paradise Taveuni, Deluxe Oceanview: USD $2,942 for two, seven nights, all meals, ground transfers and Fiji taxes included. On published figures this is the strongest all-in value in the country. Whether it clears FJ$5,000 depends entirely on the exchange rate — we could not confirm a current FJD rate from an authoritative source today, so take the day's rate from your bank before you commit.
- Toberua: NZ$4,420 for five nights including meals and return Suva airport transfers is excellent value per night, but it is five nights, not seven.
- Daku: F$337 a night room-only is the cheapest published mainland-island rate we found; add meals, which are unpriced, before comparing.
One structural point: a seven-night Fiji honeymoon under FJ$5,000 almost certainly means one property, not two. Transfers are where budget honeymoons break.
What do transfers cost?
Published fares are thin, and the ones that exist carry warnings.
The Bula Pass from Yasawa Adventures Fiji is unlimited hop-on, hop-off vessel transfers through the Yasawas, with no accommodation included. Prices are stated as per person in US dollars, effective 26 August 2026 to 31 March 2027: 5 days $294, 7 days $308, 10 days $350, 14 days $421. Note the page's own social metadata advertises a range of $247–$449 that does not match its published table.
Funky Fish publishes scheduled transfers to Malolo at $149 adult one way, $298 return, inclusive of the land transfer — but on an expired page with out-of-date tax rates, so confirm before relying on it.
Blue Lagoon Beach Resort lists a Yasawa Flyer fuel surcharge of FJ$30 per adult per sector from 1 April 2026 without publishing the base fare, and a Nautical Blue service from Naisoso at NZ$212 one way — all on pages marked as a test site.
No property or operator page we could read publishes a standalone Nadi airport transfer price. Yasawa Flyer and Malolo Cat base fares are likewise unpublished on the sites we could reach. Ask for the transfer cost in your first email, not your third — it is often 15 to 20 per cent of a budget honeymoon.
Where does a budget honeymoon day actually go?
Only one activity in Fiji's popular day-trip set publishes its prices openly, and it happens to be a good one.
Malamala Beach Club, 30 minutes from Port Denarau, for travel until 31 March 2027: full day pass FJ$215 including return coach transfers from most Nadi, Denarau, Vuda and Wailoaloa hotels, half day pass FJ$185, and a returnee pass at FJ$109 if you come back within seven days with your original pass. Complimentary Wi-Fi, towel service and non-motorised sports equipment are included.
For everything else — Cloud 9, the Sabeto hot springs and mud pool, Garden of the Sleeping Giant, Sigatoka River Safari, Ecotrax and Sleeping Giant Zip Line — no operator publishes a price we could read. Several block automated access entirely. Email them, or book through your resort's activities desk and ask for the operator's own rate rather than a packaged one.
The verdict
Under FJ$5,000 for a week, on figures you can actually check, there are two routes.
Take the Mantaray Tree House Bure with its compulsory meal package if you want a Yasawa island week and will accept shared bathrooms — about FJD 4,025 for seven nights for two, before transfers, with a Bula Pass or a resort transfer on top.
Take Paradise Taveuni's seven-night non-diver package in a Deluxe Oceanview if you want everything included and are prepared to fly domestically — USD $2,942 for two with all meals, ground transfers and Fiji taxes, which is extraordinary value if the exchange rate is kind.
If neither fits, the honest answer is that five nights well spent beats seven nights stretched. Toberua at NZ$4,420 for five with meals and transfers, or Daku's five-night low-season special, will give you a better honeymoon than a thin seven nights at a resort that would not tell you its rate.
And whatever you book: get the total in writing with the tax line shown, ask whether the property is above or below the $2 million TST threshold, and confirm the transfer cost before you pay a deposit.
Next: itemise the rest with Fiji honeymoon costs itemised, shape the trip with Fiji honeymoon itineraries for 7, 10 and 14 nights, and if you are marrying here first, read staying on after your Fiji wedding.
