Above FJ$40,000, a Fiji wedding stops being a bigger wedding and becomes a private one. The money moves out of per-head catering and into whole-property hire, multi-day programmes and accommodation for the wedding party. The binding constraint changes with it: not what you can afford to feed, but how many beds the property has.
Why does the guest-count arithmetic break here?
In the tier below, cost tracks heads. Scale the only published all-inclusive rate in the directory - Yatule Resort & Spa at FJD$12,915 for up to 30 guests plus F$215 per extra adult - and FJ$40,000 is about 156 guests, FJ$60,000 about 250, FJ$75,000 about 320. Those are our calculations from Yatule's published figures, and they are arithmetically correct but practically useless, because no exclusive-use property in Fiji can sleep 250 people.
So at this level the question flips from how many can we afford to what do we want that money to buy. Three honest answers:
- Privacy - a whole resort or private island where no other guests exist for three days.
- Duration - a welcome night, a wedding day and a farewell lunch rather than one afternoon.
- Guest hosting - paying for some or all of the wedding party's rooms, which is often what families in this band actually want.
You can have two of the three comfortably. All three at once pushes past FJ$75,000.
Which Fiji properties can be taken exclusively?
The directory records whole-resort or private buyout at the following. Note the bed counts: they decide everything.
| Property | Location | Rooms / villas | Settings published |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vomo Island Fiji | Mamanuca Islands | 40 | Beach, chapel, hilltop |
| Yasawa Island Resort | Yasawa Islands | 18 | Beach |
| Toberua Island Resort | Outer Islands | 17 | Beach, garden |
| Turtle Island Fiji | Yasawa Islands | 14 villas | Beach, hilltop |
| Matangi Private Island Resort | Taveuni & Vanua Levu | 12 | Beach, private island |
| The Remote Resort | Taveuni & Vanua Levu | 8 | Beach, garden, pier, deck |
| Sau Bay Resort & Spa | Taveuni & Vanua Levu | 7 | Beach, deck |
| Wadigi Island | Mamanuca Islands | 3 | Beach |
| Taveuni Palms Resort | Taveuni & Vanua Levu | 2 villas | Beach, garden, deck |
Alongside these, Serenity Island Resort publishes a buy-out it says accommodates up to 70 people - its own pages give conflicting room counts of 33 bures and 23 units sleeping up to 46, so get the figure confirmed - and Tropica Island Resort publishes a whole-resort charter for up to 60 with children permitted on full charters. Tides Reach Resort also records private and whole-resort buyout.
Read that table as a sorting tool. Vomo Island Fiji is the only exclusive-use property here that scales to a real wedding party - 40 rooms, a chapel on site and beach and hilltop ceremony settings. Wadigi and Taveuni Palms are for a couple and a handful of people, not a guest list, however much the photographs suggest otherwise.
Why does nobody publish a buyout rate?
Because a buyout is not a product, it is a negotiation. The number depends on the season, the number of nights, how much food and beverage is included, how many staff are rostered and what transfers are bundled. Not one Fiji property in the directory publishes a figure, and we are not going to invent one - if you find a confident published buyout price for a named Fiji resort, it came from an estimate, not the resort.
What you can do is force comparable quotes. Insist that every buyout proposal itemises:
- Room nights and the minimum stay, including whether arrival and departure days count.
- Food and beverage - included, or a separate minimum, and for how many hours.
- Transfers for every guest and every supplier, both directions. On island properties this is a large line and it is routinely left out of a first quote.
- Outside-vendor policy and fees, if you are bringing a planner, photographer or stylist. The Remote Resort publishes FJD$390 return for boat and car transfers plus lunch where a photographer is not staying overnight - a useful indication of how these are charged.
- The wet-weather venue, and whether it holds your full number.
- Staffing during exclusive use - a buyout with holiday rostering is not exclusivity.
- Every tax and levy. Fiji's VAT has been 12.5% since 1 August 2025 and a 5% Tourism Services Tax commenced on 1 September 2026 for businesses above a prescribed F$2 million turnover threshold, per the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service. On FJ$60,000 the difference between inclusive and exclusive quoting is over FJ$10,000.
Two quotes are only comparable once all seven are answered. Our venue comparison worksheet is built around exactly this list.
Scale or privacy - which should you choose?
Choose exclusivity if the guest list is 40 or fewer and the point is that nobody else is there. Vomo for a full wedding party, Turtle Island or Yasawa Island Resort for a smaller group who will accept a long transfer, Toberua or Matangi for something in between. At this budget a three-night buyout for 30 to 40 people is a genuinely rare thing to be able to buy, and it is what FJ$40,000 to FJ$75,000 does better than any other band.
Choose scale if the guest list is 100 or more. Stay in the large Coral Coast and Denarau resorts, use this budget to host guest rooms and extend the programme to three days, and accept that other people will be on the beach. The money goes much further and nobody will mind.
Consider splitting the ceremony. Marrying legally at home and celebrating in Fiji removes the licence run and the single-day scheduling pressure, which makes a multi-day exclusive-use property much easier to use well - see the two-ceremony route.
