About thirty Fiji properties publish function space large enough to call a conference. The biggest single room in the country is the Denarau Island Convention Centre at the Sheraton — 1,755 m², 1,500 theatre. Below it sit Sofitel's Grand Ballroom, Suva's Grand Pacific Hotel, InterContinental at Natadola, and a long tail of 100 to 450-seat rooms.

How do Fiji's conference precincts compare?
| Precinct | Good at | Bad at | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Denarau Island | The only 1,000-plus plenary; five resorts, one walkable precinct | Peak rates; no CBD | 200-1,500 pax, one block |
| Nadi | Airport proximity; three matched 448-seat rooms; cheap beds | Little dining off-resort | Arrival-day meetings, training, tight budgets |
| Coral Coast | Purpose-built conference centres; resort setting | 55 min to 2 hr from NAN; no dine-around | 200-600 pax residential |
| Pacific Harbour | Adventure programme on the doorstep | Small inventory; no large plenary | 50-250 pax incentives |
| Suva | Government and corporate Fiji; a CBD; Britannia Ballroom | Long road transfer; wetter | Government, NGO, Pacific-wide |
| Lautoka | Value; Vuda Marina and island days | No 400-plus plenary | 60-250 pax domestic |
| The Mamanucas | Exclusive-use islands; the best incentive theatre in Fiji | A boat day each way; freight and AV are a project | 40-200 pax |
| Outer Islands | Total privacy; buyout control | Almost nothing publishes capacity | Small high-value incentives |
What can you hold on Denarau Island?
The Denarau Island Convention Centre at the Sheraton Fiji is why Denarau carries the heaviest load in Fiji: 1,755 m², by Marriott's account the largest fully air-conditioned convention centre in Nadi. It sits beside the lobby, so load-in never crosses a road.
Marriott also publishes breakout depth: Golden Ballroom 600 theatre, Orchid and Pacific Ballroom 280 each, Frangipani and Gardenia 130, Rewa, Sigatoka, Navua and Dreketi at 40 to 76 — a conference stack, not repurposed restaurant space.
Sofitel Fiji is second: Accor's Grand Ballroom divides into five (Ballroom 2 at 220 theatre, Ballrooms 1 and 3 at 120, Ballrooms 4 and 5 at 50), plus the Walu Room and a 55 m² boardroom for 18 — ten rooms in all.
The other three are smaller than planners expect. The Westin's Senirosi Ballroom, 292.82 m² at 200 theatre, splits into two 120s; Radisson Blu has a 180 m² ballroom at 120 theatre plus the 90 m² Cutter and Spinnaker rooms; Hilton publishes 385 m² indoors across three rooms, the largest Vision at 220 theatre.
The Denarau argument is not one room but a walkable precinct of five branded resorts, a marina and a dozen restaurants: a 900-delegate conference can plenary at the Sheraton, sleep across four properties and dine at Cardo's or Nadina without a coach. See the Denarau hub.
The caution is weather: most headline dinner numbers here are lawn numbers, so get the wet-weather room and its call time in writing.
What conference space is there in Nadi?
In Nadi the standout is the Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay: a 925 m² Grand Ballroom, three Event Centre rooms at 448 theatre each, and the Baravi Ballroom at 450 cocktail with Baravi 1 at 370. Three matched 448-seat rooms is the cleanest way in Fiji to run three equal streams.
Marriott Momi Bay splits its 400-theatre Grand Salon Ballroom into Salons 1 and 3 at 100, Salon 2 at 120, with a pre-function area for 800 reception, and gives it as 38.4 km from Nadi International, a 45-minute drive.
Below that Nadi is a value market: Tanoa International adds three 70-seat rooms, Tanoa Skylodge a Garden Court for 150 classroom, DoubleTree Fiji 237 m² of event space, with Tokatoka, Novotel Nadi and Mercure Nadi below. Read Fiji air access for planners for arrival logistics.
What works on the Coral Coast?
InterContinental Fiji at Natadola publishes the Watercourt Conference Centre: a pillarless ballroom to 600 theatre, divisible in two, plus three rooms at up to 110 theatre that each split again — six breakouts — and a secretariat boardroom. IHG gives the transfer as about 55 minutes from NAN. It is purpose-built, not converted.
Warwick Fiji publishes 874 m² across three venues: Talanoa Hall, 510 m², 400 theatre and 500 cocktail; the Coral Coast Conference Centre, 312 m², 200 banquet and 400 cocktail; the 51 m² Vusu Boardroom for 18. No full multi-set chart is published — request it.
Outrigger Fiji is smaller — Reef 1 and 2 at 80 theatre each, 160 combined, a 12-seat boardroom, the Vahavu Pavilion at 100 banquet — and publishes the NAN drive as an hour and ten minutes.
Shangri-La Yanuca calls itself Fiji's largest MICE facility and names Ratu Makutu I and II as combinable, but publishes no capacity figures; we hold only a verified Seaside Chapel ceremony capacity of 40. The Naviti, Fiji Hideaway and Crusoe's Retreat publish none either. See the Coral Coast hub.
The trade-off: a resort delegates remember, no dine-around — properties sit kilometres apart, so keep catering in-house.
Can you run a conference at Pacific Harbour?
At Pacific Harbour the inventory is modest but real. Yatu Lau Lagoon records a Casino Themed Conference Room at 250 theatre, a second air-conditioned room at 200, a cafe room at 50 and two 20-seat breakouts — a workable 250-pax conference on one site.
The Pearl, Nanuku and Uprising publish no conference capacities we could verify. It earns its place on activity — Beqa diving, rivers, rafting — suiting a 50 to 250-pax incentive.
What does Suva offer a conference?
In Suva you buy access to Fiji's institutions. The Grand Pacific Hotel publishes the Britannia Ballroom at 600 m², 600 theatre, 400 banquet, 550 cocktail, 250 classroom, splitting into three 140s, plus a 297 m² pre-function area for 250, the 291 m² Matua Function Room at 200 theatre and the 69 m² Cession Room for 15 — 2,361 m² over six venues. Ignore older "Grand Pacific Ballroom" figures in third-party listings.
Novotel Suva adds Novotel House at 246 m² and 300 theatre plus three Bose Vata boardrooms; Holiday Inn Suva has the Banyan Room at 100 behind its Lali Room.
Suva has depth Denarau does not: Tanoa Plaza, New Southern Cross at 200 theatre/classroom, De Vos at 50, Peninsula at 50 banquet, Capricorn with a 50-seat boardroom, Colo-i-Suva for a 25-pax retreat. The Suva hub has the rest.
The cost is the road: a long transfer from NAN, and wetter weather.
Is Lautoka worth a look?
In Lautoka, yes under about 250 and no above it. First Landing pairs its 250-theatre Big Sea with Big Foot Island at 300 cocktail and villas seating 25; Tanoa Waterfront adds a Sunset Lawn for 200 reception, Anchorage Cupid's Point Bure at 300 cocktail, Belo Vula exclusive use of Bekana Island, and The Boatshed seats 220. Lautoka Hotel and Cathay cover the rest.
Can you hold a conference in the Mamanucas?
In the Mamanucas two properties publish a number, neither a chart. Plantation Island states a dedicated central conference centre with options up to 200 people, without set-up styles or sizes; Mana Island states functions up to 150 on its homepage and has no conference page.
Everything else is exclusive-use. Musket Cove has verified ceremony capacities of 80 and 100; Castaway, Malolo, Tokoriki, Likuliku and Vomo publish no verifiable capacities.
The structural cost is the boat day: Plantation publishes a 50-minute Malolo Cat catamaran from Port Denarau Marina at 8:00 am, 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm, so a late arrival needs a charter. Read AV and production in Fiji before committing to island staging — everything you rig goes by barge. See the Mamanuca hub.
What about Fiji's Outer Islands?
In Fiji's Outer Islands, assume no published capacity and plan for buyout. Jean-Michel Cousteau, Namale, Kokomo and Yasawa Island are high-value incentive venues; none publishes a verifiable chart. Size the group to the room count — start at the Other Islands hub.
Which properties publish no capacity data, and what should you ask for?
Shangri-La Yanuca, The Pearl, Nanuku, Uprising and most island resorts publish nothing usable; Plantation and Mana give a headline number with no set-up detail. Send a specific request rather than ruling them out.
| Ask for this | Why it decides the booking |
|---|---|
| Dimensioned floorplan, ceiling height, columns | A 2.8 m ceiling and two columns will not take a 6 m screen |
| Capacity chart in all set-ups, with and without a stage | Bare-room figures; staging removes rows |
| The named wet-weather room and its call time | Fiji's headline dinner numbers are lawn numbers |
| Load-in route, door width, any step or sand | Island and beach properties often lack vehicle access |
| Bandwidth, and the concurrent users contracted | Guest wi-fi is not a hybrid circuit; get a written figure |
A sixth, for hybrid: generator backup, for how long? Fiji event infrastructure covers power, connectivity and freight.
Where do the published figures conflict?
Sofitel's Grand Ballroom banquet. The resort's own site publishes 550 banquet, 800 cocktail; Accor's Sofitel site gives the same room at 800 m², 700 theatre, 450 banquet, 320 classroom. A 100-cover gap between two sites owned by one company — get it in writing.
Hilton Fiji's room areas. Hilton gives 385 m² across three rooms — Vision 252, Penthouse 105, Talanoa 28, exactly — then lists Koro Lawn at "3,989 sq m" and Nuku Poolside at "6,685 sq m", which only make sense as square feet. Use the indoor numbers.
The Denarau Island Convention Centre. Marriott's venue list gives "capacity 1,600"; its meetings page gives 1,500 theatre, 1,000 banquet, 1,600 reception. Consistent if 1,600 is the reception figure — but a proposal quoting 1,600 as a plenary is wrong.
Which precinct should you choose?
Choose Denarau Island if you have 200-plus delegates, want one walkable room block and need the only 1,000-plus plenary. Choose Nadi if the budget is tight, flight windows narrow, or you need three equal streams.
Choose the Coral Coast if you want a 200 to 600-pax residential conference on one site and will trade a 55-minute to two-hour transfer for a purpose-built centre. Choose Suva if your delegates are government, regional, academic or Pacific-wide — the Britannia Ballroom is the strongest room east of Nadi.
Choose Pacific Harbour or the Mamanucas if the programme is an incentive and 40 to 250 is your number; choose Lautoka if it is a 60 to 250-pax domestic meeting on a tight budget.
What is the practical next step?
Shortlist with numbers: run your headcount and set-up through the capacity search, then open the guides in the venues category.
Then check the calendar in the best time for a Fiji conference, price it with Fiji conference cost, size the block with Fiji group accommodation, test non-hotel options in Fiji conference venues and check sector fit in Fiji conference sectors. Then send the five-item request to every property listed.
