InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa is the largest purpose-built conference property on the Coral Coast. Its Natadola Ballroom is published at 600 theatre, 420 banquet and 280 classroom across 6,200 sq ft with an 11.5 ft ceiling, divisible into three, backed by six smaller Watercourt rooms and 266 guest rooms on site.

That makes it one of a small number of Fiji properties that can host a 400-plus delegate conference without the group leaving the resort. It is also about 50 km and roughly 55 minutes from Nadi International Airport, which is the trade you are making.

Every figure below is sourced from the resort's own IHG pages or its published venue listing, with the contradictions between them stated rather than reconciled.

Total meeting space is published as 10,215 sq ft, about 949 m², across 11 meeting rooms.

This is unusually good disclosure by Fijian standards. Most Fiji properties publish a single headline number per room with no layout stated; here you get seven layouts, an area and a ceiling height for the ballroom and its divisions, which is enough to lay out a floor plan before you ever speak to the hotel.

Where do the published figures contradict each other?

Three places, and all three are worth raising with the hotel before you contract.

The Watercourt rooms do not match between sources. The resort's own IHG meetings page lists Watercourts Room 1 & 2 at 96, Watercourt Rooms 3 & 4 at 110 and Watercourt Rooms 5 & 6 at 110, with no layout stated for any of them. The detailed venue listing instead gives Water Court Room 1 and Room 2 individually at 40 theatre each, which combines to 80 rather than 96, and does not list rooms 3 to 6 at all. Both figures are published by or on behalf of the resort. They conflict.

The room count differs. The IHG meetings page presents seven spaces. The venue listing states 11 meeting rooms and offers a view of 22 room entries, which suggests the longer list includes combinations as separate records. Ask for a single floor plan with a definitive room schedule.

The ballroom areas do not sum. Ballroom 1, 2 and 3 are published at 2,152.8, 2,260.4 and 2,260.4 sq ft, totalling 6,673.6 — but the combined ballroom is published at 6,200, and the two-section combinations are both given as 4,520.8 rather than the 4,413.2 the parts imply. Partition walls and service areas account for some of that, but not all of it. Treat the areas as indicative and get a dimensioned plan.

None of this is unusual for the Fijian market, and none of it makes the venue a poor choice. It does mean a 110-person classroom in a Watercourt combination is a figure to verify in writing, not to build a programme on.

Can it host a 500-delegate conference?

In plenary, yes — the ballroom is published at 600 theatre. Beyond the plenary room, the answer depends on three things the published data does not settle.

Breakout capacity. Running a 500-delegate plenary in the full ballroom leaves only the Watercourt rooms for concurrent sessions, and on the detailed listing those are small — 40 theatre each at the two documented rooms. If your programme needs three 100-person breakouts alongside a plenary, the arithmetic does not work in the ballroom alone, and you are into dividing the ballroom and losing the plenary room. Ask for the day-by-day room allocation before you commit.

Accommodation. 266 rooms on site. A 500-delegate conference with single occupancy does not fit on the property and spills to neighbouring Coral Coast resorts, which adds a shuttle operation. At 300 to 400 delegates it is comfortable.

Pre-function and catering flow. Neither source publishes pre-function area, foyer dimensions or banquet kitchen capacity. For a 420-seat plated dinner that is the question that matters most — see banquet kitchen capacity: the constraint nobody checks for how to ask it.

What is the wet-weather alternative?

This is the property's structural advantage. A resort with a 6,200 sq ft divisible ballroom immediately behind its outdoor function areas has a genuine same-site fallback, rather than a marquee hire or a smaller restaurant.

What is not published is whether that fallback is held or merely offered — that is, whether the ballroom is contractually reserved against your outdoor function, or whether it may be sold to another group. Get the named fallback room and the holding arrangement into the contract. Our guide to wet-weather contingency by venue covers the wording.

How long is the transfer from Nadi International Airport?

About 50 km, roughly 55 minutes by road, per the published venue listing. Treat that as a clear-road figure for a private vehicle; a coach movement with a full load, a rest stop and Queens Road traffic through Sigatoka will run longer, and an arrival wave spread across several Fiji Airways services will take most of a day to clear.

That is the real decision point for this property. It is a materially longer transfer than the Denarau or Nadi hotels, and in exchange you get Natadola Bay, an 18-hole championship golf course and a genuinely resort-feeling site rather than a hotel strip. For an incentive programme or a conference with a reward element, that trade is usually worth making. For a two-day meeting with tight flight connections, it usually is not.

Western operators serving the Coral Coast corridor include Coastline Fiji, Coral Coast Transfers Tours & Rentals and Tourist Transport Fiji.

What else is on site?

From the resort's own listing: 266 guest rooms, three pools, a spa, a gym, a kids' club, a business centre, an 18-hole championship golf course and four restaurants across six named outlets — Navo, Sanasana, Toba Bar & Grill, Vatu Lo Bar & Restaurant, Kama Lounge and Lai Lai Cafe. Private whole-resort buyout is available, and the property holds an on-site events coordinator.

For weddings and incentive reward elements, the resort publishes a glass-walled wedding pavilion, a manicured lawn and the beach at Natadola Bay as ceremony settings, with a wedding chapel also shown. Ceremony capacities for those settings are not published, so they need to come from the weddings team directly.

The golf course is the differentiator for a business-events buyer. It is one of the few Fiji properties where an activity pairing — the deepest networking format available to a small group — can run without a transfer. See networking formats that work in a resort setting.

What does it cost?

The resort publishes no day delegate package rate, no room hire fee and no banquet menu pricing. That is the Fijian norm rather than an outlier, and it means a comparable quote has to be requested against a specified brief.

When you do, ask for the figure three ways: room hire alone, a day delegate package, and a residential rate including accommodation. Fiji properties quote differently from each other, and those three numbers are what make two proposals comparable. Conference catering in Fiji sets out what the published end of the market looks like.

What does the resort not publish?

Four things, and they are the four most useful questions to put in your RFP:

  1. Watercourt rooms 3 to 6 in any layout, with areas and ceiling heights.
  2. Pre-function and foyer space, and banquet kitchen capacity for the ballroom's 420-seat banquet figure.
  3. Outside-vendor and exclusivity policy — whether you may bring in your own production supplier, and on what terms.
  4. Bandwidth figures and whether a dedicated circuit is available for hybrid delivery.

So who is this venue for?

Choose it if your plenary sits between about 150 and 450, you want the group on one site with golf and a real beach, and you can absorb a 55-minute airport transfer at each end. At those numbers the ballroom divides sensibly, the 266 rooms hold the group, and the wet-weather fallback is the best on the Coral Coast.

Look elsewhere if you need three large concurrent breakouts alongside a full plenary, your delegates are arriving on tight same-day connections, or your programme depends on being able to walk to several independent restaurants and bars in the evening — which is Denarau's advantage, not Natadola's.

Compare it against The Naviti Resort and Fiji Hideaway Resort & Spa elsewhere on the Coral Coast for scale, and against the Denarau and Nadi properties for access.
