Holiday Inn Suva publishes up to 350 delegates venue-wide, across three glass-walled meeting rooms and a poolside pavilion, with its largest room — the Lali Room — at a seating capacity of 200. It also publishes two actual prices, which almost no Fijian conference hotel does: a day delegate package listed at $110 per person and the Pizza Deck at FJD 1,500 private hire.
What it does not publish is layout capacities, room areas, ceiling heights or its guest room count. This guide gives you everything it does publish, flags the two figures that contradict each other, and lists what you have to extract from the events team before you can plan properly.
What spaces does the hotel have?

| Lali 2 | Not published | Indoor | Ground | Intimate meetings, workshops, strategy sessions; high-speed Wi-Fi, presentation tools |
| Banyan Room | 100 or 150 — sources conflict | Indoor | Ground | Corporate meetings, seminars, private events; natural lighting, advanced AV, flexible seating |
| Board Lounge | 10 | Indoor | Ground | 75-inch TV, Microsoft Teams system, 180-degree camera |
| Big Bure | Not published | Open-air pavilion | Poolside | Thatched roof, harbour views; small weddings and relaxed business gatherings |

All figures from the hotel's own meetings page and its IHG hotel detail page, reviewed 15 October 2026.
The Banyan Room contradiction
Worth stating plainly, because it is a 50% swing on a room you might be shortlisting.
The IHG hotel detail page lists the Banyan Room at 100 guests. The room's own description on the same page says "seating capacity for 150 people." Both figures are published by the hotel, in the same place, and they do not agree.
We are not going to pick one. Ask for the number in writing, with the layout it refers to, and get it on the contract. If you are planning a 120-person breakout, the difference between 100 and 150 is whether your event works.
This is a pattern across the Fijian market rather than a criticism of this hotel specifically — see our note on the same problem at the Sheraton Fiji in planning a 200-delegate conference in Fiji.
What is the Lali Room actually like?
It is the hotel's main space and the reason it appears on Suva shortlists. The published description gives you: ground floor, natural light, harbour views, flexible layouts and what the hotel calls state-of-the-art technology, with a stated seating capacity of 200.
The three things it does not tell you, all of which decide whether a 200-person plenary works:
- Which layout the 200 refers to. Theatre, banquet and cocktail capacities for the same room routinely differ by a third or more. A 200 theatre room is a 130 to 150 banquet room.
- The ceiling height. This decides whether you can rig, whether a large screen reads from the back, and whether the room feels like a ballroom or a function room.
- The pre-function space. Two hundred delegates breaking for coffee need somewhere to go that is not the corridor.
The hotel's meetings page points to floor plans available through the Meetings & Events team. Ask for them — they are the document that answers all three.
What about Lali 2, and can the rooms combine?
Lali 2 is described for intimate meetings, workshops and strategy sessions, with high-speed Wi-Fi and presentation tools, but no capacity is published at all. The naming convention — Lali 1 and Lali 2 — strongly suggests a divisible space, which would be normal for a hotel of this type, but the hotel does not say so and we are not going to assert it.
So add it to the list: are Lali 1 and Lali 2 a single divisible room, and if so what is the combined capacity with the airwall open? If the answer is yes, this property's usable plenary number may be higher than its published 200.
The Board Lounge is the genuinely distinctive space
Ten seats, a 75-inch TV, a Microsoft Teams system and a 180-degree camera, designed for executive meetings and hybrid sessions. That is a properly specified hybrid room rather than a boardroom with a television in it, and it is not common in Fiji.
For a regional board meeting, a hybrid governance session or a small negotiation where half the parties are dialling in from Auckland, Canberra or Washington, this is the most relevant room in Suva. Pair it with our guidance on live streaming and hybrid delivery from Fiji and is the internet good enough in Fiji for a hybrid conference.
One caveat: the hotel cites high-speed Wi-Fi but publishes no bandwidth figure and no dedicated-circuit option. If you are streaming, get the number and the contingency in writing.
The outdoor spaces, and the wet-weather question
Suva is the wettest of Fiji's conference cities, which makes this the section that matters most here.
The Pizza Deck handles it well and openly: a circular open-air deck above the harbour, fixed seating for up to 45 with umbrella shade, FJD 1,500 private hire, and a wet-weather contingency plan explicitly included. That is exactly the right way to sell an outdoor space in Suva, and the only published example of it we have found at the property.
The Big Bure — an open-air thatched pavilion beside the pool with harbour views — and the wider Inspired Events poolside zone, which combines the Big Bure, the Vergola and adjoining terraces across semi-covered and open-air areas, do not come with a published wet-weather plan. The Vergola is an adjustable-louvre roof system, which gives the poolside zone some built-in weather tolerance, but tolerance is not a plan.
Ask for: the named indoor fallback room, who makes the call, by what time, and whether the fallback is held or merely offered. Our wet-weather contingency planning for outdoor programmes guide sets out what a usable answer looks like.
What does it cost?
Two published figures, which is two more than most.
| Item | Published price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Eco-Incredible Package | $110 per person | Listed as a day delegate package; a sustainability-framed meeting product |
| Pizza Deck private hire | FJD 1,500 | Up to 45 guests, wet-weather contingency included |
| Evolve Your Event 2.0 | 10% off master bill, 2X IHG Business Rewards points, bonus Elite Night credits | Booking window shown ended 4 March 2026 — confirm whether it still applies |
| Accommodation, gala catering, AV | Not published | Quoted |
At Reserve Bank of Fiji indicative rates of 14 October 2026 (FJD 1 = NZD 0.7878, AUD 0.6333), $110 per person is roughly NZD 87 or AUD 70, and FJD 1,500 is roughly NZD 1,182 or AUD 950. Conversions indicative only.
At 200 delegates, the eco package works out at $22,000 a day for that element — useful as the one hard anchor in a Suva budget. Confirm it is available at group volume rather than only to small meetings. Build the rest with the Fiji event budget template and sanity-check against what a Fiji conference costs per delegate.
Food, beverage and the offsite-on-site advantage
The property runs Sirocco Restaurant as an all-day bistro, Bati ni Wai Pizzeria for wood-fired pizza, the Tapa Lounge Bar for cocktails, live music and poolside seating, the Pizza Deck, Vikatoria Cake Corner, and 24-hour in-room dining.
That matters more than a dining list usually does, because it means a three-day Suva conference can put each evening somewhere different without leaving the property — Tapa Lounge for the welcome, the Pizza Deck for a small group dinner, the Lali Room or poolside for the gala. In a city where offsite options are thinner than on Denarau, in-house variety is a real asset. For what else the city offers, see offsite dinner venues for conference groups.
What the hotel does not publish — your ask list
Take this list to Events.HolidayInnSuva@ihg.com or +679 330 1600 before you shortlist:
- Layout capacities for every room — theatre, classroom, banquet, cocktail, U-shape, boardroom.
- The Banyan Room's real number, and which layout it refers to.
- Whether Lali 1 and Lali 2 combine, and the combined capacity.
- Room areas, dimensions and ceiling heights, via the floor plans.
- Pre-function space, named and sized.
- The hotel's guest room count, and how many it will block.
- Bandwidth, and whether a dedicated circuit is available for streaming.
- Loading access and the banquet kitchen's covers in one service — see banquet kitchen capacity.
- Outside-supplier policy. Not published either way; AV, production and styling exclusivity should be settled in the contract.
- Parking, and transfer times from both Nausori and Nadi.
On that last point: neither the hotel nor IHG publishes a transfer time from either airport. The Nadi-to-Suva drive is the longest routine transfer in Fiji's conference market, and the Nausori alternative has its own constraints. Read Nausori Airport and the Suva access problem and real transfer times before you design day one. Suva ground operators in our directory include Pacific Transport Limited and Central Transport Company.
Is Holiday Inn Suva right for your event?
Choose it if your event is 60 to 200 delegates, the capital is the point — government, regional institutions, development agencies, a Pacific association — you want a hybrid-capable board room, and you value a property that publishes real prices.
Look elsewhere if you need a published ballroom capacity above 200, a single room block of 150-plus (ask the room count before assuming), or a resort setting. For the alternatives, the Grand Pacific Hotel publishes 2,361 sq m of function space across six venues with 113 rooms, and Tanoa Plaza Hotel, Novotel Suva Lami Bay and Peninsula International Hotel fill out the city. For larger non-hotel space, look at the Japan-Pacific ICT Centre and Vodafone Arena.
