Eleven Fiji properties publish a whole-resort or whole-island buyout for weddings. Only four publish a price: Toberua Island Resort from NZ$19,800 a night for up to 36 adults, Tides Reach Resort from US$3,600 a night for 16 guests, Wadigi Island from US$2,756 a night for two, and Seventh Heaven from FJ$4,995 a night. Everyone else is contact-us.

Exclusive use is the one Fiji wedding product where the island is genuinely yours — no day-trippers, no other couples, no strangers in your photographs. It is also the product with the least published information, so this piece sets out what is actually on the record and what you will have to ask for.

Which Fiji properties publish a buyout?

These eleven put it in writing on their own websites.

Read the right-hand column again, because it is the headline. A Fiji buyout is a small-wedding product. The published capacities cluster between 6 and 36 guests, with Tropica's 60 and Serenity's 70 at the top. If you have 100 guests, exclusive use of a boutique island is not your route — see whole-venue options at the larger resorts instead.

What does a buyout cost?

Only four properties publish a figure, and they are not directly comparable, so treat this as a shape rather than a price list. Figures are as published by each property in October 2026, in the currency each uses; we have not converted, because the rate moves and a stale conversion misleads.

PropertyPublished rateWhat it covers
Toberua Island ResortFrom NZ$19,800 per night"Including full meal catering for up to 36 adults". Pricing includes 17.5% government taxes, valid to 31 March 2027
Tides Reach ResortFrom US$3,600 per nightAll-inclusive, up to 16 guests, whole resort
Wadigi IslandUS$2,756 per night first two guests; US$1,330.62 per person for guests 3–4; US$1,282.86 for guests 5–6Rates include government taxes. 3-night minimum
Seventh HeavenFrom FJ$4,995 per nightExclusive use 4pm to 9.30am, designed for two adults
Malamala Beach ClubFrom FJ$51,599, plus FJ$30,000 minimum food and beverageA day charter, not a night. Up to 300 guests, FJ$12 per person landing fee, plus FJ$10,000 exclusive-use fee for groups under 150

Toberua's rate is the one worth sitting with. NZ$19,800 a night, fully catered, for 36 people, works out at roughly NZ$550 per person per night — which is not an outlandish per-head figure for an all-inclusive private island. Buyouts look expensive as a headline and often reasonable per guest. Do that division before you dismiss one.

Malamala Beach Club is the exception that proves useful: if you want exclusivity for 300 people, a day charter of a beach club in the Mamanucas is the only published route, and it is a day, not a stay.

What are the minimum nights?

Only three properties publish one.

  • Turtle Island Fiji — a week. The buyout is sold as "a week-long island holiday" with a flat fee, which the resort does not disclose.
  • Vomo Island Fiji — 4 nights for wedding couples, 3 nights for group weddings, with "all wedding guests to reside on the island".
  • Wadigi Island — 3 nights, with a minimum charge applying to two adults.

Toberua publishes no buyout minimum but does set one on its wedding packages: all 10 adults must stay a minimum of 5 nights on the Totally Toberua package.

No property in this list publishes a minimum guest count or a minimum number of rooms for a buyout. That is unusual, and it cuts both ways. It means there is no published floor stopping a small group from asking — and it means you have no published benchmark when a resort names one.

Can you bring children?

This is the question that eliminates venues fastest, and the answers are firm.

PropertyChildren
Royal Davui Island Resort16 and over only. "The adults-only structure creates a consistent atmosphere across the island"
Tadrai Island ResortAdults only
Matangi Private Island ResortAdults only — "Adult-Only Private Island"
Tropica Island ResortChildren permitted only on full resort charters
Turtle Island FijiYes — "if your group includes children, we assign nannies or 'Bula Buddies' to every child"
Vomo Island FijiYes, with "a little more freedom for our older kids from 7 years up"
Wadigi IslandYes, all ages, with published per-child nightly rates by age band
Tides Reach ResortYes — counted within the "around 22 total guests"
Serenity Island ResortYes — bures with "additional bunk beds for children"
Toberua Island ResortBuyout quoted as "up to 36 adults"; child policy for a buyout not published

Tropica's position is the interesting one. Children are not normally permitted, but a full resort charter unlocks them — so for a family wedding, the buyout is not a luxury, it is the mechanism.

Where the published data contradicts itself

Fiji venue data conflicts constantly, and exclusive-use pages are among the worst. These are the ones we found, with both figures, because you will encounter them:

  • Serenity Island Resort states "33 Bures" and "23 units" on the same page, and both "lodging for groups of up to 46 people" and "groups of up to 70 people". All four figures are on its island buy-out page. Get the number in writing.
  • Toberua Island Resort says "up to 36 adults in 16 oceanfront bures" on its private island bookings page and "a group of up to 35 friends" on its homepage.
  • Matangi Private Island Resort itemises roughly 10 units across its accommodation list while its page metadata claims "20 boutique designer resort rooms".
  • Tax quoted to guests varies wildly from the law. Toberua's "17.5% government taxes" is correct for October 2026 (12.5% VAT plus the new 5% Tourism Services Tax). Wadigi quotes "25% govt taxes" and Matangi quotes "+15% tax", neither of which matches any current Fiji combination. Confirm the tax treatment of any quote with the supplier, and check the rate with the Fiji Revenue & Customs Service.

Which properties do not publish a buyout?

Worth knowing, because several are commonly described as buyout venues by third parties. On their own sites, no exclusive-use offer is published at: Sau Bay Resort & Spa, The Remote Resort, Tadrai Island Resort, Navini Island Resort, Tavarua Island Resort, Likuri Island Resort, Lalati Resort & Spa, Nanuku Resort, Matangi Private Island Resort or Taveuni Palms.

Several of these are tiny — Taveuni Palms has "only 2 private beachfront villas", Navini has 11 bures, Lalati 14 — so a de facto buyout is a short conversation even where it is not a published product. Ask.

Four properties we could not assess at all, because their websites were unreachable or served no content: Leleuvia Island Resort, Kulu Bay Resort, Qamea Resort & Spa and COMO Laucala Island. We are not going to repeat capacity claims we could not verify.

The verdict

For two to six guests, Wadigi Island is the purest version of the product: sole use is not an upgrade there, it is the only way the island operates, and the rates are published.

For 10 to 36 guests, Toberua Island Resort is the only property publishing a complete picture — a rate, an inclusive catering basis, a capacity and a correct tax statement. That transparency is worth something when every competitor says contact-us.

For a family wedding with children, Tropica Island Resort and Turtle Island Fiji are the clear answers, for opposite reasons — Tropica because the charter is what permits children at all, Turtle because it staffs for them.

For up to 300 guests, exclusivity means a day venue, and Malamala Beach Club is the published option.

And for everyone: when you enquire, ask for the four numbers nobody publishes — minimum nights, minimum guests, the all-in nightly rate including tax, and what happens if your headcount drops. Our venue comparison worksheet has a column for each.
