Suva has exactly one restaurant that publishes named private rooms with capacities, exactly one published venue buyout price, and exactly one published per-head food rate. Everything else in the city is quoted on enquiry. Here is what is actually published, where the numbers contradict each other, and what to ask for before you commit a group of 20, 50 or 100.

Which Suva venue publishes real group capacities?

My Kai, at 46-50 Knollys Street in the CBD, in the historic Governor's Residence. It is the best-documented group dining venue in Suva by a wide margin.

SpacePublished capacityDescription as published
Captain's Table9 paxIntimate, round-table setting
Navigator Room15 paxBoardroom-style functions
Balcony Dining35 paxOutdoor
Island Exchange50–100 paxLargest space, with bar and stage

Two honest caveats. The figures are published as "pax" without stating seated or standing, so do not convert them into a table plan without asking. And the My Kai website is internally inconsistent about location — it says "now open in Suva" while also describing a Martintar, Nadi operation. Worth a phone call. Cuisine is Pacific-inspired with Sri Lankan specials; a function kit is available on request; no buyout price and no minimum spend are published.

What are Suva's hotel function capacities?

For a group of 50 upward, the hotels are the realistic answer, and the Grand Pacific Hotel is the only one publishing a full room-by-room sheet.

A conflict you need to know about. The same website's venue listing gives headline figures of "Britannia Ballroom 600, Britannia Pre-Function 250, Matua Ballroom 200, Cession Room 15". The 600 is the theatre figure from the fact sheet, not the banquet figure, and "Matua Ballroom" does not appear on the fact sheet, which calls it the Matua Function Room. A third page refers to the "Grand Britannia Ballroom" and gives a property total of 6 function venues and 2,361m². Cite the fact sheet, and get your room named and numbered in the contract. No private dining room is individually named at the hotel; the page says only "private dining spaces".

The others publish less, and we are not filling the blanks.

Novotel Suva Lami Bay publishes Novotel House at 246m² with a banquet figure of 100, and the Wai Maravu Room at 59m² with a banquet figure of 20. Its Novotel Convention Centre is published at 480m² with the page text giving up to 300 for gala dinners, weddings or conventions, and its Entertainment Centre at 600 with no table figures. Accor's hotel page gives different top-line numbers again — 7 meeting rooms, largest 1,248m², max 800 seats, max 400 banquet — and that 1,248m² matches no room in the events table. Report both and confirm the room. Restaurants are Husk and Tonique Gin Lounge & Bar. The address is Queens Road, Lami Bay, so this is a drive, not a walk.

De Vos on the Park, 1 Central Street, publishes a "250 seat banquet or conference centre" and "15-20 seat meeting rooms" without naming any of them. Its restaurant is Sea salt. Its own conference detail pages would not load when we checked.

Tanoa Plaza Hotel, corner of Gordon and Malcom Streets, publishes Conference Room 3 at up to 150 theatre and Rooms 1 and 2 at up to 45 each, and says cocktail functions can accommodate 250 — but assigns no banquet capacity to any room. Its Tanoa Restaurant runs 6:30am to 10:30pm and the Plaza Bar 11am to 10:30pm.

Peninsula International Hotel, corner of McGregor Road and Pender Street, publishes a Mokosoi Conference facility on the third floor "catering for up to 80 people", with no seated or standing breakdown. Its Hillcrest Restaurant does dinner 6:00pm to 10:00pm.

Holiday Inn Suva, 501 Victoria Parade, names its spaces — Lali 1, Lali 2, Banyan Room, Board Lounge, Big Bure, Pizza Deck, Vergola — and publishes a capacity for only one of them. Its homepage gives an aggregate of up to 350 delegates across three glass-walled meeting rooms and a poolside pavilion.

What can you actually book out, and for how much?

One thing, at one price. Holiday Inn Suva publishes private venue hire of the Pizza Deck at FJD 1,500, based on the existing setup, including a simple wet-weather contingency plan, for up to 45 guests in fixed seating. The Pizza Deck is an open-air circular timber deck over Suva Harbour, serving bar bites from 8:00am and pizza from 10:30am, both to 10:30pm.

That is the only published buyout price in the city, and no Suva venue publishes a minimum spend at all.

The only published per-head food rate is from the same hotel: the Friday Night BBQ Buffet at FJ$69.50 per adult, FJ$35 for children 6 to 12, under-5s free, every Friday 6:30pm to 9:00pm, bookings recommended. One more practical note from Holiday Inn: from 19 October 2026 its restaurants, bars and cake corner accept only room charge, M-PAISA, MyCash, EFTPOS, debit and credit cards, with a 3% service fee on credit card payments. Tell your delegates.

For a non-hotel room, the Japan-Pacific ICT Centre Multipurpose Theatre at USP's Laucala campus publishes a capacity of 307 persons plus four spaces for people with disabilities, and hourly hire of FJD 1,000 for the basic hall non-corporate and FJD 1,600 corporate, free for USP bodies, government ministries and development partners. It is a fixed-seat theatre, so there is no banquet capacity — but its hire form has a catering tick-box and an option to use the foyer for refreshments, with charges running from one hour before to one hour after. It is at Laucala Bay, not in the CBD.

Vodafone Arena lists weddings, receptions, awards ceremonies and social nights among its uses, and publishes conflicting totals on the same page — a header figure of 1 to 10,000 persons against specifications of 5,000 seated, 4,000 on the grandstand and 1,000 on the floor. It publishes no banquet capacity and no hire rate. Its separate Events Lounge is published at 50. Treat it as a space you would have to build a dinner into, not a dinner venue.

Where does the city publish nothing at all?

This matters, because these are the names a local will give you.

Paradiso Restaurant & Bar publishes no capacity, no hours, no room name and no pricing; its own site also gives two different addresses, the Suva Lawn Tennis Club on Ratu Cakobau Road and Victoria Parade. Rudy's Italian Trattoria & Grill at 78 Ragg Avenue publishes no capacity and no hours, and "Private Function" appears only as a booking dropdown option. Onyx runs Onyx Bar and Onyx Platinum and publishes no capacity, venue address or hours — though it does link Drinks and Food Function Package PDFs, which we could not retrieve and which are the most likely source of real per-head group pricing in Suva. Tiko's Floating Restaurant, Ashiyana, the Governors Museum Themed Restaurant and Daikoku Suva publish nothing we could read from an official source.

Colo-i-Suva Rainforest Eco Resort on Princes Road publishes open daily 7.30am to 11.00pm and no function space, capacity or group pricing at all. The Grand Pacific's own outlets — Prince Albert, Levuka, Na Toba Pool Bar, Steamship Bar, Victoria Lounge — publish hours but no seating capacity and no private dining.

One warning. Suva City Council's website is, as at 22 October 2026, serving an unrelated online gambling site rather than council content. There is therefore no obtainable capacity or hire fee for the New Town Hall, and we have not linked that domain. If you want the Town Hall, phone the council.

So how do you place a group of 20, 50 or 100?

20 people. My Kai's Navigator Room at 15 is too small; its Balcony Dining at 35 fits comfortably. Peninsula's Mokosoi facility at up to 80 will take 20 easily. Or take a table at any CBD restaurant — at this size you do not need a private room, you need a booking.

50 people. My Kai's Island Exchange starts at 50 and has a bar and a stage, which is the best combination published in the city. Holiday Inn's Pizza Deck at 45 is close but not quite. The Grand Pacific's Matua 1 or 2 at 60 banquet each works, as does Novotel's Wai Maravu if you only need 20 — not at 50.

100 people. Hotel territory. The Grand Pacific's Matua Function Room at 140 banquet, or Britannia 1, 2 or 3 at 70 each — so two of the three combined. Novotel House is published at 100 banquet. My Kai's Island Exchange tops out at 100, which would be a full room.

Above 100 for a seated dinner, the Britannia Ballroom at 400 is effectively the city's only published answer.

Two things to settle before you sign

Get the wet-weather alternative in writing. The Fiji Meteorological Service defines the wet season as November to April and recorded 3,993mm at its Laucala Bay station in Suva in 2024. In January 2025 Suva took 348.7mm against Nadi Airport's 302.3mm; in March 2025, 319.4mm against 262.6mm. Suva's sunshine in 2023 was 1,648 hours against Nadi's 2,489. An open deck over the harbour is a wonderful dinner venue eight months a year and a liability in February.

Get the room named, the layout named and the number in the contract. On the published evidence above, two of Suva's best-documented venues contradict themselves within a single website. That is not a reason to avoid the city; it is a reason to put the figure in writing.

VAT on a Suva restaurant bill is 12.5%, reduced from 15% on 1 August 2025. Guideline only — confirm with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service. Converted at the Reserve Bank of Fiji's indicative rates for 22 October 2026: FJ$1 ≈ NZ$0.78 ≈ A$0.63, published for indicative purposes only. Last reviewed 22 October 2026.

Next step: the Where to Eat and Drink in Fiji hub covers the rest of the country, and the companion pieces for Denarau Island and Nadi do the same exercise there. For the meeting rooms behind these dinners, see conference venues in Suva, and check the venues directly at Grand Pacific Hotel Suva, Holiday Inn Suva, Tanoa Plaza Hotel, Novotel Suva Lami Bay, De Vos on the Park and My Kai — all in Suva.
