No restaurant at Port Denarau publishes a group dining capacity. We checked the marina venues one by one, and what they publish are sharing platters, not headcounts. If you need a confirmed number for 20, 50 or 100 people on Denarau, the published capacities sit in the resort function spaces — not in the restaurants.

That is the useful finding, and it changes how you book. Below is what each venue actually confirms, what you have to phone for, and the resort spaces that will give you a number in writing.

Why does nobody publish restaurant group capacities on Denarau?

Because the marina restaurants are built for walk-in trade. Port Denarau is the departure hub for the island cruises and ferries, so the dining precinct runs on turnover from day-trippers and resort guests, and a published function capacity would be a commitment most of these venues do not want to make against a Tuesday lunch rush.

Two consequences for a planner:

Group bookings here are negotiated, not booked. You email or phone, describe the group, and get a yes or no for that date. There is no published minimum or maximum to work from.

The capacity you are quoted is usually a section, not a room. Marina venues are mostly open-plan with deck seating. "We can take 40" generally means a reserved area within a working restaurant, not an enclosed private space.

Which Denarau restaurants confirm group or private dining?

Based on what each venue publishes on its own site and listing, here is where group capability is actually stated.

Hard Rock Cafe FijiNot statedInformal group dining, live musicNone published

Three of these are worth singling out. Indigo is the only marina venue that publishes an explicit private dining and events service, and it has operated at the port since 2007 — if you want an enclosed space at the marina for a group dinner, start there. Cantina states the broadest group brief, naming team dinners and tour groups specifically. Cardo's lists a weddings and events capability.

For the rest, group dining is possible but will be a reserved section. That is perfectly good for an informal delegate dinner or a wedding-party night out; it is not where you put a formal 100-person sit-down.

Where are the real published capacities on Denarau?

In the resorts. Denarau's hotels publish function-space figures because conferences are a core part of their business, and those spaces take seated dinners.

VenueSpacePublished banquetPublished theatre
The Westin Denarau Island Resort & SpaSenirosi Ballroom (292.82 m²)150200
The Westin DenarauSenirosi Dua (146.4 m²)80120
The Westin DenarauSenirosi Rua (146.4 m²)80120
Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau IslandBallroom (180 m²)100120

Those four spaces answer the question in the title precisely. A dinner for 20 fits a Westin Senirosi sub-room with room to spare. A dinner for 50 fits any of them. A dinner for 100 needs the Westin Senirosi Ballroom at 150 banquet, or the Radisson Blu Ballroom at exactly 100.

Above 100, the island's scale is in the Sheraton and Hilton properties. Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort is home to the Denarau Island Convention Centre, described as the largest convention space in the region at around 1,755 square metres and seating up to 1,600 delegates, with the Golden, Orchid, Frangipani, Gardenia and Pacific ballrooms alongside it and the beachfront Sandy Point outdoors. Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa publishes the Koro Lawn as holding receptions of up to 2,000 guests, with the Vision, Penthouse and Talanoa rooms indoors.

Note a published conflict worth knowing about: the Westin's own description refers to the wider Denarau convention complex hosting events of up to around 1,100 delegates, while the Sheraton's convention centre is described as seating up to 1,600. The two figures measure different things — the shared complex versus the single largest room — but they are quoted interchangeably in the market. Ask which one you are being sold.

What should you do for each group size?

20 guests. Book a marina restaurant. Indigo's private dining, or a reserved section at Cantina, Cardo's or Bonefish. You will get a better night out than you will in a function room, and the walk along the boardwalk afterwards is part of it.

50 guests. This is the decision point. A marina venue can usually take 50 across a reserved deck area, but you lose the ability to run speeches or a programme. If the dinner has a purpose beyond eating, move to a resort space.

100 guests. Resort function space, in writing, with a published banquet figure. The Westin Senirosi Ballroom and the Radisson Blu Ballroom are the two that publish a number at this level.

Buyouts. A full-venue buyout of a marina restaurant is negotiable and is the way to get an exclusive space with a real view. None of these venues publishes a buyout rate, so it is a direct conversation — and the answer will depend heavily on the date.

What else to settle before you book

Three questions that catch people out on Denarau specifically.

Transport. Denarau is a gated resort precinct about 14 kilometres from Nadi International Airport, and the marina is a short drive from the resort strip. For a group, that is a coach movement, not a walk. TEWAKA Fiji runs coach charters for groups of 15 or more from a 53-seat deluxe fleet; Tourist Transport Fiji and Pehicle Tours Fiji both operate larger coaches.

Beverage terms. None of these venues publishes a beverage package. Settle per-head versus consumption, and the bar close time, before the night.

Late options. Denarau has limited after-dinner venues. Republik, at the Sofitel, is promoted as the island's only dedicated nightclub and is over-18; rum tastings run at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club. Neither publishes a group capacity, so plan the end of the night as deliberately as the start.

Next steps

For the island itself, read the Denarau Island complete guide. For how the dining precinct compares with the rest of the country, see where to eat and drink in Fiji and the best restaurants in Fiji. The same exercise for the southern coast is in group dining on the Coral Coast.

If the dinner is part of a conference programme, offsite dinner venues for conference groups covers the national picture, and conference venues in Denarau Island lists the function spaces in full.
