On the Coral Coast, a group of 20 can be seated at several standalone restaurants, a group of 50 almost always means a resort function space, and a group of 100 means the Warwick's Talanoa Hall or Outrigger's Vahavu Pavilion. Almost no independent Coral Coast restaurant publishes a capacity figure. Here is what is actually documented.

Why is this so hard to research?

Because the Coral Coast's restaurant sector is small, mostly family-run, and not in the habit of publishing floor plans. Searching for "Coral Coast restaurant private dining capacity" returns resorts, not restaurants.

That is a genuine gap rather than a secret. The honest answer is that for anything above about 25 people on the Coral Coast, you are booking a resort function space, not a restaurant — and resorts do publish capacities. This guide works from the published figures and tells you plainly where none exist.

What takes 20?

At twenty people you are still inside normal restaurant territory. You are booking out a section, not a venue, and the limiting factor is table configuration rather than floor area.

Candidates along the Queens Road corridor between Sigatoka and Korolevu include Vilisite's Seafood Restaurant, Sitar Indian & Thai Restaurant, The Tipsy Italian, The Junction Cafe and Restaurant, Flying Fin Restaurant & Bar and Crab Shack Fiji.

None of these publishes a seating capacity. Treat 20 as a working assumption to be confirmed by phone, and ask three questions: can you seat 20 at one table or will it be split, what notice do you need for a set menu, and do you have a covered area if it rains.

What takes 50?

This is the awkward band, and it is where the Coral Coast's structure shows. Fifty people in one room, with service, is beyond most independent restaurants here and well inside what a resort handles routinely.

A fifty-person dinner fits comfortably in Reef 1 & 2 combined at Outrigger (80 banquet), on the Level 6 Terrace or the Reef lawns (80 each), or in Warwick's Coral Coast Conference Centre (200 banquet) with the room dressed down. Both Reef rooms adjoin a covered verandah and an open-air terrace, which is the detail that matters most on this coast — it gives you an outdoor dinner with a roof fifteen steps away.

What takes 100?

Three published options.

  • Outrigger's Vahavu Pavilion — 100 banquet, adjoining the Vahavu swimming pools.
  • Warwick's Coral Coast Conference Centre — 200 banquet, 400 cocktail.
  • Warwick's Talanoa Hall — 510 m², 400 theatre, 400 banquet per the resort's wedding listing, 500 cocktail. This is the largest published function space on the Coral Coast.

At 100-plus you are no longer choosing a restaurant; you are choosing a resort and then choosing a room inside it. Price it as a function, not a booking.

What about the famous ones?

Wicked Walu at Warwick Fiji is the Coral Coast's signature dining room — set on its own small private island, open 6:00pm to 10:00pm daily, reservations required. It is the venue every planner asks about.

The resort publishes no seating capacity for it and no statement on private or exclusive hire. The site's own cuisine label reads "Traditional Japanese Cuisine" while the description is grilled seafood and chargrilled steaks, so even the menu classification is unreliable. If Wicked Walu is the centrepiece of your group dinner, get the capacity, the exclusive-use terms and the minimum spend in writing before you build the programme around it.

Outrigger's IVI Restaurant — fine dining beside a hundred-year-old ivi tree, dinner only, 6:00pm to 10:30pm — is the equivalent. The resort's published restaurant information carries no capacity figures either, and the most detailed public listing of Outrigger's outlets dates from 2012 and was last modified in 2019, so hours in particular should be reconfirmed.

Three things that matter more than capacity here

Distance. The Coral Coast runs roughly fifty kilometres along the Queens Road. "On the Coral Coast" can mean a forty-minute coach each way between your accommodation and your dinner. Fix the venue before you fix the hotel, or accept the transfer.

Wet weather. There is no indoor fallback at a beachside standalone restaurant unless the restaurant has one. Resort function rooms do. This is the strongest single argument for the resort route for anything over 25 people.

Whether the restaurant can actually take you off à la carte. A kitchen that serves 60 covers a night across an evening cannot serve 50 covers at once on a set menu without notice. Give them three weeks and a confirmed menu, not three days.

Verdict

For 20, book a standalone restaurant and get the table configuration confirmed by phone — the independents are where the Coral Coast's character lives and they are worth the call. For 50, book Outrigger's Reef rooms or an outdoor terrace with covered fallback. For 100, book Warwick's Talanoa Hall or Conference Centre. And for anything with Wicked Walu or IVI at the centre of it, get the capacity in writing first, because nobody publishes it.
