A Fiji wedding is mostly a fixed cost with a per-head layer on top. Elopements for two commonly start around FJ$3,500 in published resort packages; the per-guest layer then adds roughly FJ$80 to FJ$250 per person for a sit-down dinner with drinks. Costs step up sharply at about 20, 50 and 100 guests.

The reason "what does a Fiji wedding cost" is such an unsatisfying question is that the answer is two numbers, not one. There is a base that barely moves whether you invite two people or forty — celebrant, licence, photographer, flowers, the couple's accommodation — and there is a variable layer that scales almost linearly with heads. Getting the shape right matters more than getting any single figure right.

For the full line-by-line breakdown, see Fiji wedding cost breakdown: every line item. This piece is about how the total behaves as the guest list grows.

What does it cost at each guest count?

The table below models a mid-range Fiji wedding using the published ranges above. It is not a quote from any venue. The per-head figure used is a mid-range FJD 150 for catering, drinks and table setting combined.

Modelled from published industry ranges, September 2026. At Reserve Bank of Fiji indicative rates of 25 September 2026, FJ$20,000 is roughly NZ$15,700 or A$12,700, and FJ$50,000 is roughly NZ$39,200 or A$31,600.

Two sanity checks against published figures. An industry guide puts a mid-range Fiji wedding of 30 to 60 guests at FJD 10,000 to 20,000, which brackets the 30 and 50 rows above. The same guide puts the overall national range at FJD 3,500 to 75,000, with Warwick Fiji packages from FJD 3,500 and Radisson Blu from FJD 4,000 at the entry end and Kokomo Private Island full-island buyouts from FJD 75,000 at the top. The model lands inside both.

Where are the three cost steps?

The per-head number is deceptively smooth. The real jumps are structural.

Step one: around 20 guests. Below this you are usually inside a resort's intimate or elopement package, where a fixed price covers the ceremony, a small setup and often a simple meal. Above it the package gives way to per-head banquet catering and a real reception space. The Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort intimate package, for example, is built for ten guests; past that you move onto its Dream package and its reception venues.

Step two: around 50 guests. This is where you stop fitting into a restaurant's private section and need a dedicated reception venue with its own minimum spend. Staffing steps up, a second bar appears, and the decor budget stops being a few tables. It is also where a single transfer vehicle stops being enough.

Step three: around 100 guests. Here you need a ballroom or a large lawn, a full banquet kitchen, multiple coaches, and — on an island — enough rooms that you are effectively negotiating a partial buyout. Many Fijian island resorts simply cannot take 100 seated guests. Fiji wedding venues for 100 guests lists the ones that can, and the capacity chart shows where every venue's ceiling sits.

What does not get cheaper with more guests?

Nothing about your photographer. A full-day photography package costs the same for 20 guests as for 200 — published examples include an elopement hour at FJD 900 and a getting-ready-to-sunset package at FJD 3,400 plus travel, with reception coverage added at about FJD 600 an hour. Videography sits higher again, with cinematography packages from around FJD 3,700 and one Nadi studio publishing cinematography from FJD 5,200.

The licence does not scale either. The official Fiji fees are FJD 16.35 for the Notice of Intention to Marry and FJD 54.50 for a civil registry marriage — FJD 70.85 in total, whatever the guest count. Industry guides quoting FJD 200 to 400 for "licence and registration" are bundling in celebrant and coordination charges; ask for the two to be itemised separately.

Where the per-guest cost actually goes up

Three multipliers that most budgets miss:

  • Island venues. Boat transfers at FJD 100 to 300 return per person, or seaplane at FJD 400 to 800 per person, are a per-head cost that mainland weddings do not carry. At 50 guests a FJD 200 boat transfer is FJD 10,000 on its own.
  • Beverages. The FJD 80 to 250 per-person range for a sit-down dinner with drinks is wide precisely because the drinks package is the swing factor. Beverage packages at Fiji weddings, decoded explains what the tiers actually contain.
  • Supplier travel. Photographers and other suppliers commonly quote plus travel for island and Coral Coast venues. It is a fixed cost, but it appears only once the venue is chosen, which is why it feels like a surprise.

The verdict by guest count

2 to 10 guests. Buy a package. The fixed base dominates and the per-head layer is noise. See elopement packages compared.

20 to 50 guests. The most cost-efficient band in Fiji. You get a real wedding, the fixed base is spread across enough people to feel reasonable, and most venues can take you without a minimum-spend fight. Micro-weddings in Fiji and Fiji wedding venues for 50 guests cover the options.

80 to 120 guests. The per-head layer now exceeds the fixed base. Negotiate on catering and beverages, because that is where the money is. Mainland venues on the Coral Coast such as the Warwick Fiji Resort and Spa and Shangri-La Yanuca Island, or on Denarau Island the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort and Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island, are usually better value here than islands, because there is no per-head boat.

150 plus. You are running a small conference with a ceremony in it. Get a planner, get a buyout quote, and put the transfer plan on paper before you confirm the venue.

Every figure here is a planning range drawn from published sources and should be replaced with real quotes as soon as you have a shortlist. Start with what a Fiji wedding actually costs, then the Fiji wedding budget spreadsheet, and check 9 hidden costs of a Fiji wedding before you sign anything.
