Denarau Island has nine resorts and hotels, one of which is currently closed, and not one of them publishes a nightly rate. What they do publish is what their beach, their pools, their apartments and their conference rooms actually are — and that is enough to choose on. Here is each property, what it publishes, and where it sits on the island.

What is Denarau Island, exactly?

A private resort development on Viti Levu's western side, reached by a causeway, managed by Denarau Corporation Limited (DCL) as the island's body corporate. DCL's remit covers static security and the island's common areas — roads, landscaping, street lighting, irrigation and sewer reticulation — and its board has directors representing the island's five precincts, which is why the island feels zoned rather than sprawling.

DCL describes the island as set among 850 acres of landscaped tropical gardens; other references put its area at 2.55 km², which is roughly 630 acres. We give both. Tourism Fiji calls it Fiji's most exclusive resort enclave and refers, as DCL does, to nine resorts.

Two things people assume that we could not verify: DCL does not describe the island as gated, and we found no source confirming a security gate, so we are not asserting one. And DCL's own hotel list still uses the dead Westin name, so treat it as a list of sites rather than of current brands.

Which property should you actually book?

The big beach resorts

Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa makes the island's strongest published beach claim — the longest beachfront on Denarau at 2.5km — and its largest pool claim, nine pools, two of them adults-only. Rooms, suites and penthouses, with suites featuring kitchenettes (not full kitchens), laundry facilities and split-level living areas. Kids' club is the complimentary IKA Kids Club, ages 4 to 12. Dining includes Nuku, Maravu, a deli and the adults-only KORO complex. Hilton publishes no room count — opening-era press said 271, a trade directory says 357 and 354 in different places on the same page, and we would not rely on any of them. Access: less than 15km from the airport, less than 2km to Port Denarau. Hilton publishes no meeting capacities and the trade figures for it are self-contradictory, so for conferences this one needs a direct enquiry.

Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort is on Denarau South and is the island's business-events anchor. It publishes 10 event rooms and names the Denarau Island Convention Centre at 1,755.0 sq m, calling it the largest convention space in the South Pacific Islands, with theatre 1,700, reception 1,700, banquet 1,150 and schoolroom 1,100. (The body text says a maximum of 1,600 against the chart's 1,700; and the page gives both 3,551 sq m and 25,000 sq ft as its total event space. Both pairs contradict each other — confirm your number.) Below that sit the Golden Ballroom at 600 sq m, banquet 400, the Pacific Ballroom at 298 sq m, banquet 150, and outdoor spaces including Proshop lawn at reception 2,000 and banquet 800, Sandy Point at reception 1,500 and banquet 600, and Sheraton Main Beach at reception 500. An adults-only pool and a family pool; a kids' club; 15.0km and a stated 30-minute commute from the airport; 0.4km to the golf club, with guest privileges on the course.

Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island publishes four climate-controlled lagoon pools and the island's clearest room sizes — all standard, superior and deluxe categories at 41 m², a one-bedroom suite at 78 m² and a two-bedroom at 119 m². Blu Banana Kids' Club, ages 4 to 12. Six on-site restaurants. It describes a private beach without calling itself beachfront, publishes venue names only (a ballroom, a meeting room and four outdoor spaces) with no capacities, and gives 0.55km to the golf club and a 1.3km walk from the Denarau ferry terminal.

Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa publishes a private beachfront location on Denarau and, usefully, the clearest adults-only split on the island: Waitui Bar & Grill is explicitly adults-only and Republik is a late-night adults bar, while the family side has the Niu Kids Beach Club and a Teen Zone for ages 12 to 16. Its meetings page publishes a Grand Ballroom for up to 550 banquet and 800 cocktail, a Walu Room to 60 theatre and 50 banquet, and an Executive Boardroom to 18 in 55m². Note that Accor's separate MICE site gives the Grand Ballroom at 800 m² with theatre 700 and up to 640 banquet. The banquet figure is published as 550 in one place and 640 in another, so use the 800 cocktail figure that both agree on, or confirm in writing.

The apartment and villa options

Club Wyndham Denarau Island, Trademark Collection by Wyndham — formerly WorldMark Denarau Island, on Narewa Road — publishes the island's deepest self-contained inventory, and publishes it properly. One-bedroom to four people, two-bedroom to six, three-bedroom to eight, plus three-bedroom Grand and Presidential units on the ground floor, the Presidential with a private pool and BBQ area. Every type lists a full kitchen and an in-room washer and dryer. A family pool area and an adults retreat pool area; kids' club, play area and babysitting. 14km from Nadi International Airport. No conference facilities published. Mamacita Mexican Restaurant is here on Resort Drive, not at the marina.

Sheraton Denarau Villas publishes two and three-bedroom villas with fully equipped kitchens, an infinity pool and a lagoon-style pool, and a kids' club with access through to the Sheraton Fiji facilities. It calls itself a waterfront resort overlooking Nadi Bay, not beachfront — take it at its word. It has no meeting space of its own and shares the Sheraton complex's. One current caveat from Marriott's own page: its Wet Edge restaurant is temporarily closed and villa upgrades are in progress, which may cause light disruptions.

The Terraces publishes the only unit count on the island that comes from the property itself: 30 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, situated at Port Denarau, right next to the marina. Described as fully furnished — kitchens are not explicitly stated, so ask. Not a beach property. Its wedding page publishes a genuine cap of a maximum of 30 pax.

The Palms Denarau publishes one, two and three-bedroom executive apartments plus a guest-room category, directly opposite Port Denarau Marina, within tropical garden grounds, with a pool, a cafe, a tour desk, a 24-hour gym free to guests and security-card access to building entries and lifts. It publishes about 20 minutes by car, or 10km, from Nadi International Airport — the lowest distance figure on the island, and it contradicts everyone else's. Kitchens are not stated. Not a beach property.

And the one you cannot book

The former Westin — now headed The Westin Fiji Golf Resort & Spa on Marriott's own pages — is closed. Marriott displays an alert that the hotel is currently closed, beside a refurbishment notice promising reopening on 31 March 2023, a date three and a half years past. We found no official reopening statement. Its wedding and events pages still list the Senirosi Ballroom at reception 200 and banquet 150. Do not plan around it, and be careful with third-party sites still selling it.

Nobody publishes a walking time to the marina or the golf club — every property gives either a driving distance or a vague phrase. We have not invented one.

What is at Port Denarau, and how do you move around?

Port Denarau Marina is described as the hub of the integrated Denarau Island resort: 57 fully serviced berths plus 16 moorings, a 50-tonne travelift, a supermarket, bottle store, bank, money exchange, clinic, pharmacy and shops. It is where the islands leave from — Awesome Adventures' Yasawa Flyer departs at 8.45am and is back around 6.00pm; South Sea Cruises runs the Mamanuca transfers, published via Malolo Island Resort as 9.30am, 12.15 and 3.15pm, at FJD$166 per adult and FJD$109 per child each way plus a FJD$10 per person fuel surcharge per sector; and all Captain Cook Cruises departures leave from here.

Around the island, the Bula Bus is run by Denarau Shuttle Co., which publishes FJ$12 FJD per adult per day, FJ$35 FJD for a five-day pass, and children under 12 free with a valid ticket holder, on a route between the port, hotels, waterpark and golf course. Frequency is not published, and the only hours on the operator's site sit in a contact block. Third-party sources give different fares and hours; use the operator's.

Denarau Golf & Racquet Club confirms an 18-hole championship course. It publishes club hire at FJD85 for 18 holes and FJD65 for 9, a playing lesson at FJD$350 including green fees, and individual membership at FJD$1,990 — but no visitor or resort-guest green fee. Only Sheraton Fiji states that its guests receive privileges on the course, so do not assume access from elsewhere.

On dining, one correction worth carrying: Hard Rock Cafe Fiji has closed, and Cantina Bar & Grill now occupies the Port Denarau site — described as the only air-conditioned restaurant on the marina. Also at the marina: Cardo's Steakhouse, Bonefish Seafood Restaurant, Lulu Bar Restaurant and Cafe, Indigo Indian Restaurant, Nadina Authentic Fijian Restaurant, Amalfi Italian Restaurant, Grills Restaurant & Bar and Lazy Beans Cafe.

The verdict

For a family, Hilton for the beach and the pools, or Club Wyndham if you need to cook and do laundry. For a couple who want the adults-only option without an adults-only resort, Sofitel. For a conference, Sheraton Fiji, and nothing else on the island is close. For a group that wants to be at the marina and out on the water every day, The Terraces or The Palms.

And on price: ask. Every single property on Denarau Island keeps its rate behind an enquiry, so the only way to compare them is to put the same dates and the same room type to all of them on the same day.

Converted at the Reserve Bank of Fiji's indicative rates for 22 October 2026: FJ$1 ≈ NZ$0.78 ≈ A$0.63, published for indicative purposes only. Last reviewed 22 October 2026.
