The Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island is a 270-room five-star resort whose largest function space, the Captain's Ballroom, takes around 170 theatre, 130 classroom and 140 banquet under a 3.3-metre ceiling. It is a strong fit for meetings and incentives up to about 150 delegates, and the wrong building for a plenary of 300. It is roughly 20 to 25 minutes from Nadi International Airport.

This is a planner's profile, not a brochure. Below is every published capacity, where the sources disagree, what the resort does well for a business group, and what it cannot do.

What are the Radisson Blu Denarau's meeting spaces?

Where do the sources disagree?

They disagree in four places, and a planner should know about all of them before quoting a client.

  1. Number of meeting rooms. The Cvent listing shows six spaces but also states "Meeting rooms: 2."
  2. Largest room. The same listing gives the largest room as 215.3 sq ft, which is the Board Room — while also listing the Captain's Ballroom at 1,970 sq ft.
  3. Banquet capacity. The listing's descriptive text says the resort can seat up to 120 for a banquet; its capacity table says 140.
  4. Ballroom capacity. The resort's own description puts the Captain's Ballroom at "up to around 170 guests", which matches the theatre and boardroom figures but not the banquet one.

Our reading. Treat the Captain's Ballroom as the largest space at roughly 183 sq m. Treat 170 theatre as reliable and 120 to 140 banquet as a range to confirm in writing. The "two meeting rooms" and "largest room 215 sq ft" entries look like listing errors rather than facts.

That is the kind of discrepancy that turns into an argument three weeks out. Get the capacity chart from the resort's own banqueting team, signed, before you contract.

Can it hold your event?

Your eventDoes the Radisson Blu work?
Board meeting, 8–10Yes — the Board Room is purpose-sized
Workshop or breakout, 25–50Yes — Spinnaker & Cutter
Conference plenary, up to 150Yes — Captain's Ballroom, theatre
Conference with simultaneous breakoutsTight. One ballroom plus one divisible room plus a boardroom is a thin breakout inventory
Gala dinner, 120–140Yes, at the upper end — confirm the exact number
Gala dinner, 200+No. Look to the Sheraton Fiji or an offsite venue
Plenary, 300+No
Cocktail function, 60–80, outdoorsYes — Ocean Deck or Waterfall Lawn
Incentive group, 60–150, resort-basedYes, and this is arguably its strongest use

The honest summary: this is a mid-size meetings and incentive property, not a conference hotel. Its ceiling is around 170 people in one room, and the ballroom is both your plenary and your dinner venue, which means a turnaround rather than two rooms.

What is the accommodation?

270 rooms and suites, including one- and two-bedroom apartment-style options. That apartment inventory is genuinely useful for an incentive programme carrying partners or families, and for longer organiser stays.

For a conference needing a single-property room block, 270 keys supports a group of roughly 150 to 250 depending on share — comfortably more than the ballroom holds. In practice the function space, not the room count, is what limits the group size here. That asymmetry is worth knowing: the Radisson Blu can sleep a group it cannot sit down.

What is the resort actually like?

Built around four interconnecting lagoon swimming pools, including an adults-only pool, with a swim-up pool bar and an ocean deck bar. There is a spa — Harmony Spa — a kids' club, a private beach, water sports and the usual resort infrastructure.

On dining, our verified record and the resort's own description do not fully agree, and we would rather say so than pick one. The description sets out five restaurants — Blu Bar & Grill, Basilico, Byblos, Chantara and a Teppanyaki outlet — while our directory record also carries Neptune's. Restaurant line-ups on Denarau change regularly. Confirm the current outlets with the resort before you build a dine-around into a programme.

For a business group the practical read is that the resort has enough F&B outlets to run a dine-around in-house across three or four nights without the group eating the same buffet twice. That is not true of every property on the island.

How far is it from the airport?

About 20 to 25 minutes by road from Nadi International Airport (NAN), on sealed roads via Queens Road and the Denarau causeway. This is among the shortest resort transfers in Fiji and it is the reason Denarau carries so much of the country's business-events volume.

Allow longer for a group: with coach loading and an arrival bank at the terminal, budget 45 minutes as a schedule block. Operators running this corridor include Tourist Transport Fiji, Epic Transfer & Tours Fiji and Airport Shuttle Fiji. See transfer: Nadi Airport to Denarau Island for the detail.

What is the wet-weather plan?

This matters because three of the six spaces are outdoors.

The indoor fallback is the Captain's Ballroom at 170 theatre or 120–140 banquet, which covers the Waterfall Lawn's 80 and the Ocean Deck's 60 comfortably. If your outdoor function is within those numbers, you have a genuine same-property backup — which is more than many Fijian venues can say.

What the resort does not publish is the decision protocol: how many hours before the function the call is made, who makes it, and whether a set-up charge applies if the room is dressed and then not used. Those three points belong in your contract. Fiji's wet season runs roughly November to April.

What is not published?

Three things we would want and cannot source, so we are telling you rather than inventing them:

  • Outside-vendor and exclusivity policy. Whether you may bring in your own AV, catering or entertainment, and on what terms. Ask directly. On Denarau, policies vary considerably between properties.
  • Rates and the cost structure. No published day-delegate rate, room-hire schedule or minimum spend. Expect to negotiate day-delegate or room-hire-plus-consumption, with the ballroom typically carrying a minimum spend on a dinner.
  • Technical specification. Rigging points, floor loading, power supply, and committed bandwidth for the ballroom. For anything beyond a projector and a lectern, get this in writing. Encore Event Technologies Fiji and Microhire both work on Denarau and will tell you quickly whether a room suits your production.

How does it compare on Denarau?

On Denarau, the Radisson Blu's niche is clear: enough rooms for a substantial group, a ballroom sized for the top end of a mid-size meeting, strong resort facilities, and a short airport run. For anything that needs a room over 200, the Sheraton is the answer and the Radisson Blu is a very good overflow and partner-programme property alongside it.

The verdict

Book it if: your group is 60 to 150, you want one property that does meetings and a genuine resort holiday equally well, you are carrying partners or families who will use the apartment-style rooms and the pools, or you need a 270-key block near the airport.

Look elsewhere if: you need a plenary over 170, a seated dinner over about 140, or three or more simultaneous breakouts.

Before you contract: get the signed capacity chart, the banquet number in writing, the outside-vendor policy, the wet-weather decision protocol, and the ballroom's technical specification.
