Fiji has at least fourteen adults-only or adults-oriented resorts, and "adults-only" means something different at nearly every one. Matamanoa publishes a minimum age of 16. Navutu Stars welcomes children over 11. Likuliku and Tokoriki both describe themselves as adults-only without publishing an age at all. Wellesley is adults-oriented and alcohol-free.

If the point of your honeymoon is that there are no children, you need to know which definition you are buying. Here is the full list, with what each resort actually publishes.

Which Fiji resorts are adults-only?

Every property below is recorded as adults-only or adults-oriented in the MICE Fiji directory. The age column shows what the resort publishes on its own site — not what a booking site says about it.

Two further properties are recorded as adults-only in the directory but publish no live website we could verify against, so we have not listed their details: a five-villa couples-only property on Mana Island in the Mamanucas and a boutique resort on Qamea off Taveuni. Ask us or your agent for the current position on either.

Nine of the twelve verified properties publish no minimum age. That is the single most useful fact in this article. If a child-free honeymoon is non-negotiable, ask the resort directly and get the answer in writing.

What does "adults-only" actually mean at each resort?

Four distinct models, and they are not interchangeable.

Genuinely adults-only, strictly

Likuliku Lagoon Resort describes itself as "a haven of subtle luxury for adults only" and as "the first adult only resort in Fiji with authentic over-water bures". It remains Fiji's only adults-only over-water bure resort. Our directory record lists 45 bures — 10 over-water and 35 beachfront, 29 of those with private plunge pools — with bures designed for two guests. The resort was admitted to National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World in 2018 and is wholly owned by a local Fijian tourism family.

Tokoriki Island Resort publishes 36 freestanding villas and bures, a maximum of 72 guests, and describes itself as "Fiji's most awarded adults-only boutique luxury island resort". It cites a LUXLife Magazine UK award for Best Luxury Adults-Only Wedding Resort. It does not publish a minimum age.

Adults-only with a published age

Matamanoa Island Resort is the clearest: "a 4-star deluxe adults only resort, welcoming guests 16 years of age and older." Its 47 rooms break down as 10 oceanfront pool villas, 24 beachfront pool bures and 13 island rooms.

Sixteen is young enough that you may share the resort with teenagers. For most honeymooners that is immaterial; if it is not, say so now.

Adults-only with children over a stated age

Navutu Stars Fiji states in its own FAQ: "We are an adults-only resort, though children over the age of 11 are welcome." Ten bures and villas on Yaqeta Island in the Yasawas, roughly 40 nautical miles from Nadi, under Italian ownership, with a plantation-to-plate kitchen and the Island Bliss Spa. It can be chartered exclusively for groups of up to around 25.

This is the honest edge case. It is marketed as adults-only and it will have eleven-year-olds in it. Both statements are true.

Adults-oriented rather than adults-only

Wellesley Resort on the Coral Coast is an adults-oriented boutique property across around 100 acres of rainforest with ocean frontage, built on a wellness philosophy it calls "Be All There". It is alcohol-free, which is the detail most couples want to know and which the resort's wedding page does not mention. Fifteen rooms and suites, from 35 m² standard rooms to 140 m² pool rooms with private plunge pools. It does not publish a children policy or an alcohol policy on its weddings page — we confirmed the alcohol-free character from its wider positioning, so verify both directly.

The Wakaya Club & Spa on Wakaya Island in the Lomaiviti group is an adults-oriented luxury retreat hosting only a small number of guests across a handful of free-standing bures plus a separate multi-bedroom private residence.

How long does it take to get there?

This is the trade-off nobody puts on a brochure. Adults-only in Fiji correlates strongly with small and remote, and small and remote means a transfer.

  • Mamanuca resorts are the easiest: boat or seaplane from Port Denarau, close to Nadi. Operators include SeaFiji, Mamanuca Express, Manu Charters and Yasawa Adventures Fiji.
  • Yasawa resorts such as Navutu Stars are a longer run — the resort states it sits approximately 40 nautical miles from Nadi and lists "many options" without publishing travel times. Seaplane and helicopter shorten it considerably; the boat does not.
  • Vanua Levu and Taveuni properties — Namale, Emaho Sekawa, Matangi — require a domestic flight from Nadi plus a transfer. Build a full travel day in each direction.
  • Beqa Lagoon and Lomaiviti properties need a boat or air transfer from the southern coast or Suva.
  • Wellesley is a road transfer along the Coral Coast, no boat.

Our honest guidance: if your honeymoon is seven nights or fewer, stay in the Mamanucas or on the mainland. The Yasawas and the northern islands are worth the travel day, but they cost you two of your seven nights. See how long does it really take to get between Fiji's islands and domestic and inter-island flights in Fiji.

Should you split your honeymoon?

For most couples, yes — and adults-only works well as the second half.

The pattern that works: two or three nights on the mainland or Denarau to recover from the flight and see something of Fiji, then four or five nights at an adults-only island for the part you actually came for. It also solves the transfer problem, because you make the island run rested rather than straight off a red-eye.

Our Fiji honeymoon itineraries for 7, 10 and 14 nights set out the combinations, and Fiji honeymoon costs itemised covers what each leg adds. For the broader accommodation picture, adults-only resorts in Fiji covers the same properties from a general-stay rather than honeymoon angle, and overwater bures in Fiji: the complete list covers the one category where adults-only and over-water overlap.

What to confirm before you book

Five questions, in writing, every time:

  1. What is the minimum guest age, exactly? Nine of the twelve resorts above do not publish one.
  2. Are there exceptions? Whole-resort buyouts, family bookings out of season and school holidays all create them at small properties.
  3. What is included? All-inclusive at Namale, Emaho Sekawa, Royal Davui and Tropica means different things. Get the beverage list.
  4. What is the transfer, and is it included? Seaplane, helicopter and boat all price differently and some are seasonal or weather-dependent.
  5. What is the honeymoon inclusion? Seven of the twelve publish honeymoon packages. Ask what is actually in them before you mention you are honeymooning.

Start at the Fiji honeymoons hub. If you are combining the honeymoon with the wedding itself, Fiji wedding venues with private island exclusivity and whole resort buyouts cover the properties that do both.
