Eight properties on Denarau Island take weddings, they publish at least seventeen named wedding packages between them, and not one publishes a price. Not one publishes a ceremony capacity either. Denarau is Fiji's flagship resort island and it is also the least transparent wedding market in the country — which is worth knowing before you spend three weeks waiting on proposals.
Here is everything the Denarau resorts do publish: the named ceremony settings, the event-space capacities, the one wet-weather backup, and the one property that admits outside planners.
Which Denarau resorts hold weddings?
| Property | Named ceremony settings | Published capacity | Chapel | Package prices |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort | Sandy Point, Sheraton Main Beach, 15th Hole, Pro-Shop Lawn, Croquet Lawn | Sandy Point 800 reception / 500 banquet | Yes — air-conditioned | None |
| The Westin Denarau Island | Coco Palms Fijian Village, Westin Farm, Golf & Racquet Club, beachfront, ballroom | Senirosi Ballroom 200 reception / 150 banquet | No | None |
| Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa | Outdoor venues, ballroom, bamboo canopy by the ocean | "maximum of 100 guests comfortably in our ballroom" | No | None |
| Radisson Blu Resort Fiji | Vei Domoni Lawn, Waterfall Lawn, Ocean Deck, Ballroom | Ocean Deck 60, Ballroom 100 | No | None |
| Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa | Northwest Lawn, Meke Lawn, Spa Beachfront, North Lawn Beachfront, Cabana Beachfront, Sunset Beachfront | Grand Ballroom 550 banquet / 800 cocktail | No | None |
| Club Wyndham Denarau Island | None published | not published | No | None |
| The Terraces Fiji | Golf course views, pool, tropical landscapes | "maximum of 30pax" | No | None |
| Sheraton Denarau Villas | None published | not published | No | None |
A caveat that matters more than it looks. Almost every number above comes from each hotel's event-space table — banquet and reception figures built for conferences and gala dinners. They are not ceremony capacities, and no Denarau property publishes a ceremony capacity for any setting. If someone quotes you "Sandy Point holds 800", that is a reception figure. Ask separately how many chairs fit for a ceremony.
Which Denarau venue has a wedding chapel?
One: Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, whose Sandy Point is described as an al fresco premier beachfront venue with "a fully air-conditioned wedding chapel". In Fiji's climate the air conditioning is not a trivial detail — a December ceremony in a glass-walled room is a different experience from one in a cooled chapel.
The capacity is not published. MICE Fiji's own verified record logs the setting as an ocean-side wedding chapel without a seat count, so this is a question for the resort.
Nothing else on Denarau Island has a chapel. The Westin's equivalent is Coco Palms, a dedicated Fijian village with serenaders, a kava ceremony and firewalking — a cultural setting rather than a religious one, and a genuinely distinctive option if that is what you want. If a chapel is the point, the Coral Coast has three; see wedding venues with on-site chapels and the Coral Coast list.
What happens if it rains on Denarau?
Radisson Blu is the only resort on Denarau Island — and the only one across Denarau and the Coral Coast combined — that publishes a wet-weather backup. Its wording is unambiguous: "The Ballroom is perfect for indoor receptions and seats up to 100 guests, also serving as a wet-weather backup for our outdoor venues."
That is one property out of eight. The others all have indoor rooms perfectly capable of taking a wet-weather reception — the Westin's Senirosi Ballroom at 200 reception, Hilton's ballroom at 100, Sofitel's Grand Ballroom at 550 banquet, the Sheraton's whole convention complex — but none designates one, none publishes a call time, and none publishes what moving indoors costs.
Get all three into the contract: the named room, the hour at which the call is made, and the fee if any. Our wet-weather plan guide has the wording, and the venues that confirm a backup has the national list.
How big can a Denarau wedding be?
Bigger than the wedding pages suggest, because the conference infrastructure is right there. Denarau holds Fiji's largest event spaces, and several of them are routinely used for receptions.
| Space | Property | Reception | Banquet |
|---|---|---|---|
| Koro Lawn | Hilton Fiji | 2,000 | 1,500 |
| Denarau Island Convention Centre | Sheraton Fiji | 1,600 | 1,000 |
| Pro-Shop Lawn | Sheraton Fiji | 1,500 | 800 |
| Golden Ballroom | Sheraton Fiji | 800 | 400 |
| Sandy Point | Sheraton Fiji | 800 | 500 |
| Grand Ballroom | Sofitel Fiji | 800 cocktail | 550 |
| 15th Hole Golf Course | Sheraton Fiji | 700 | 500 |
| Sheraton Main Beach | Sheraton Fiji | 500 | 60 |
| Orchid Ballroom | Sheraton Fiji | 300 | 180 |
| Croquet Lawn | Sheraton Fiji | 250 | 150 |
| Senirosi Ballroom | The Westin | 200 | 150 |
| Nuku Beachfront | Hilton Fiji | 200 | 180 |
| Maravu Beachfront | Hilton Fiji | 190 | 160 |
| Ballroom | Radisson Blu | 100 | 100 |
So a 400-guest Fijian wedding on Denarau Island is straightforward in principle. What it is not is priced — you will be negotiating a banquet contract, not buying a wedding package. The wedding pages at Hilton and Radisson cap at 100 because that is their ballroom, not their property.
Note also the odd one out: Sheraton Main Beach takes 500 for a reception and only 60 for a banquet, which tells you it is a standing-cocktail space rather than a seated-dinner one.
Can you bring your own planner or photographer?
The Terraces Fiji is the only Denarau property that publicly signals it will work with outside planners — it states that it partners with external wedding planners and directs couples to enquire. For a 30-guest wedding near Port Denarau Marina, that flexibility is the reason to look at it.
Everything else is unclear by omission. Radisson Blu says that reserving one of its venues brings "exclusive use of our facilities", and describes its ocean-side ceremony venue as "styled by Fiji Weddings", which signals a preferred stylist without stating a policy. Sheraton Fiji and The Westin offer Marriott Certified Wedding Planners. Sofitel publishes a dedicated wedding executive and a named wedding planner with a direct line.
None of that is a policy on whether you may bring your own supplier. Ask in writing. Denarau has strong independents — Hair Fiji Denarau and MMJ Bridal for hair and makeup, DJ Works Fiji for music, The Wedding & Events Atelier Fiji for styling — and whether you can use them is a question with a yes-or-no answer that no website gives.
How long is the transfer from Nadi airport?
Short, and that is Denarau's genuine advantage. It is the closest resort precinct to Nadi International Airport by a wide margin.
The published distances cluster tightly: Marriott lists 15.0 km for Sheraton Fiji, The Westin and Sheraton Denarau Villas; Hilton says "less than 15 km"; Club Wyndham says "Just 14 kilometers"; Radisson Blu gives "13.6 kilometers" via Queens Road.
Drive times are where it gets inconsistent. Sheraton Fiji publishes "a scenic 30-minute commute"; Radisson Blu's body copy says "just a 30-minute drive" while the same page's meta description says "just 24 minutes". Treat 24 to 30 minutes as the honest range, assuming ordinary traffic.
On cost, that proximity is worth real money. Scheduled coaches run from the airport to Port Denarau at FJ$11 per adult; Xplore Fiji publishes private vehicles from FJ$50 for one to four passengers; Tourist Transport Fiji publishes FJ$112 for one to three up to FJ$197 for ten to seventeen. Moving 50 guests costs around FJ$1,100 to FJ$1,300 return — against roughly FJ$3,400 on the Coral Coast and FJ$16,600 or more in the Mamanucas. The full comparison is in Fiji wedding cost by island.
One naming point to check
Marriott's own pages for hotel code NANWI now present the property as The Westin Fiji Golf Resort & Spa rather than The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa. If you are drafting invitations or signage, confirm the current trading name with the hotel before anything goes to print.
Which Denarau venue suits which wedding?
- Up to 30 guests, with an outside planner: The Terraces Fiji. The only property that publicly welcomes external planners, and the only one publishing a guest cap on its wedding page.
- Up to 60 guests, with a published wet-weather plan: Radisson Blu. Ocean Deck for 60, Ballroom as the stated backup. On disclosure alone it is the most planner-friendly resort on the island.
- Up to 100 guests indoors: Hilton Fiji's ballroom, or Radisson's.
- A chapel ceremony: Sheraton Fiji, the only one on Denarau, air-conditioned.
- A Fijian cultural ceremony: The Westin's Coco Palms village, with serenaders, kava and firewalking.
- 150 to 400 guests: Sofitel's Grand Ballroom at 550 banquet, the Westin's Senirosi Ballroom at 200, or Sheraton's Orchid and Golden Ballrooms. Negotiate as a banquet.
- Above 500 guests: Sheraton Fiji's convention complex or Hilton's Koro Lawn, which at 1,500 banquet is the largest published event space in Fiji.
- Self-contained apartments for a family group: Club Wyndham Denarau Island, which publishes nothing wedding-specific but takes wedding parties.
Before you enquire
Because nothing is priced, your enquiry is doing all the work. Ask every property for the same five things: the all-in price for your exact headcount including tax; the ceremony capacity of the specific setting, not the reception figure; the named wet-weather room and its call time; whether you may use your own photographer, celebrant, stylist and planner; and what the per-additional-guest rate is. Then compare on paper.
Expect Fiji's tax position to appear on quotes: VAT is 12.5% and the Tourism Services Tax adds 5% for operators turning over more than FJ$2 million a year, which every Denarau resort will. Every one of these properties sits above that threshold.
Read the island itself in Denarau Island: the complete guide, compare settings nationally on the wedding venues hub and the capacity chart, and browse every listing on Denarau.
